We have a large pantry where we store our dry goods. As soon as you walk in the front door the pantry is on your right. It is a large pantry, in some of the other homes on our street it is actually a 1/2 bath.
Anyway, this pantry is always very humid in the summertime. I doesn't have an air vent or any way to circulate air at all. It can actually smell bad depending on how many different types of food I have stored in there. It makes chips and cookies go stale in a matter of days. Even in their original packaging or tupperware containers. I was thinking of buying one of those food vaccum things but before I do that I wanted y'alls opinion.
I can't leave the pantry door open so air can circulate b/c if the pantry door is open and someone walks in the front door, the front door won't open. The 2 doors will brace against one another. I don't want to run a dehumidifier in there b/c again, I can't really leave the door open and more importantly I don't own one.
Are there any products that absorb moisture, some kind of pellets or paper product that I can put in the room to help make it less humid?
