I think it is fine in the the shower but not all around the bathroom. you could tile the bottom half the wall of the rest of the bathroom & paint the top half

A granite tile in the shower would be nice and a complementary tile in the other areas could work

Hi Marie! So happy to see you. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img] Been out all day, but I just peeked in before bed, and look what I find!

Now, don't anybody be saying anything about Mrs MarieK's floral wallpaper!! I know someone who is renovating an old house. I think that in one room she had 5 or 6 layers of wallpaper...one right over the other one. It was like a historical archive really, and she took photos of it all. You could almost guess the decade/era for each one, going way way back. Funny thing is, each one was UGLIER than the last! DWL. (ssshhh) Anyway, back to your problem(s) at hand.

Well, honestly, if you decide to tile everything, I will beg you to look at some other types of tile, that will possibly work better as an overall surface. I also agree with KIA (change your name back, please Ma'm) that what will work in the shower won't *necessarily* work in the whole room.

However, honestly, I don't think tile everywhere works well 90% of the time, no matter the color. For one thing, I think it is a colossal pain to clean - much more difficult than a painted or wallpapered surface IMHO. No amount of grout sealer in the world is going to make me happy.

lol GB, thanks. Well luckily we stayed up got pen and paper and he even borrowed some sort of design software and designed the bathroom w/ my tile idea and when I saw it on the computer ummmmm, heck no, I don't like it, of course mi nah tell him seh him right .

I'm pretty sure he's grateful to all of u. So next here is the task at hand. He has promised to lay the tiles diagonally which will also help to make the room bigger (yuh know dis man need fi put him talent out dere, for mi ah mean we would be richer by now ennuh, an undermounted sink will also create the illusion of space and very classy (mi tell yuh di man talented ennuh, why him nuh guh duh dis fi a living yuh know how much more shoes mi wudda own) but the point of contention is the tub.

When the built the house (8 years ago) they put in the encased plastic tub thing weh dem sell in home depot and I think a regular tub with tile around it would be nice.

See, the man does know what he is talking about! Laying tile on the diagonal is an EXCELLENT trick to visually expand a space. Also, an undermount sink is not only sleek and chic, it is sooo much easier to clean, I think. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

As for the shower, well, if that is in good shapy, you could leave it. Are you replacing the fixtures, too? Toilet, vanity, etc?

You like the glass tile look?

I love the picture of the first glass tile and will show him this.

Actually I can tell he will do something creative with it that I will HATE during inception but end up falling in love with in the end. We are changing everything. Fixture and all. He wants a waterfall shower head so we have to change things out plus I like brush silver fixtures. The toilet will be changed to one with a square top because he said it adds to the illusion of height and will appear smaller in width. (yuh si di beg helleva wud dem di man a use wid mi [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] )

He wishes to keep the vanity white with an undermount sink.

White painted you mean? Well, not sure I love that idea if you are going with earth tones. He is likely thinking of optical illusions again, btu in that case, not sure I agree that the cabinet needs to be white. I think a wood tone with interest could work well.

The glass tile was for a wall area/backsplash, btw, although some glass tiles come larger (12 x 12, 18 x 18) and can be used on floors. Maybe also a nice stone look?

Sounds like the man has it all planned! Are you doing the floral bath now too?

Beleive it or not we have one floor completely unfinished but I have put my foot down that we have to do at least one of the ugly bathrooms before he gets carried away with that floor (I am estimating 6 months which will include installation and demolition at least twice before the finished product is revealed. We already know what we are putting in the lavendar floral powder room

Pedestal will be changed to





toilet will be matchign the Kohler Memoirs collection



This is a powder room that is small enough for me to change the colors regularly, the wood floor remains but the wall paper will come down and that room will definitely be painted just not sure what color yet

fixutres will be a toss up
