Banana Tree

Still working on trying to landscape my new yard [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif[/img]

I want to put in a banana tree, is there a particular type that would produce more or better fruit? Do I have to do anything special? From what I understand they just grow on their own for the most part, as long as I keep them good and watered.

It's a bit too late planting them now and expecting fruit to produce. I have a total of 6 banana plants...don't know the particular type. I planted them in late April (actually, these were banana plants that were overwintered from last year) in full sun. They get sufficient watering and all are over 5ft tall. Each of them have about 3 little shooters growing off the sides. Last year I got a bunch of bumpy bananas around early to mid September.

I ended up with a "Musa Dwarf Cavendish" veriety. The gentelman at the nursery said it would produce fruit close to what we find in the store [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] He also told me it may take a year or 2 to actually get to the fruit producing stage [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/popcorn.gif[/img]
