So the new house has a lot more garden space. Around the deck there are bare areas that seem like there were plants there at one time.
There are similar areas bordering the house. MrBlue has already started planting things. Bless him. The plant on the left is, I believe, a hydrangea and the right is a rhododendron.
There is a lot that can be cleared for more growing. MrBlue has started tomatoes, peppers, and corn. We're waiting on collard green and callaloo seeds.
Funny u mention callaloo seeds.. I was blanching some more callaloo (I blanch a bit at a time but as the season cooling down I have to blanch more often).. Anyway I have the pods in a brown paper bag waiting on them a bit more.
If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

Very nice Mrs Blue. One thing though - the hydrangea and the Rhodie are too close to each other, and that Rhodie too close to the house, in general. They eventually get very large. You can prune them to keep them small but you have to keep at it, every year when it reaches the size you want. Be sure to cut each branch individually, right after it flowers (or you risk cutting off the following years blooms).

More stuff that MrBlue planted. The one on the right is a peace blossom. I don't know what the one on the left is.

Is the whole house brick?

They would probably be better off in that larger patch in the other picture.
Mrs Blue, I apologize for not being more clear in what I wrote. I specifically meant the Rhodie, not necessarily the hydrangea. Same pruning techniques apply, but hydrangea don't get as large and you can leave it near the house (probably without pruning). You can let the Rhodie go natural in a bed away from the house.
