We put on metal roof

My bedroom has been under much renovation since start of week [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] Knocked out a dry wall section and expanded the room, added in a dorma(sp?) area, and an enlarged closet. The painting and re-carpeting will be next... Next will be the bathroom and kitchen [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] You know how long mi did a wait fi dis to get started.

Get ready fe de dust wha a go settle pon u whole house, and the aggevation of delays and waiting fe the construction team and the making of decisions fe every details..
Me just had my kitchen redun along with the front foyer, and the guest bathroom, and a tell u, it tek 4 months from start to finish, and a couldnt wait fe it fe dun and return to some level of normalcy....
Now dat it dun, a stand in awe..and a extremely happy..

The house has been under renovation/repair since early spring.
We've been here since work started...and some time soon we'll have to go to the farm to spend the nights once as the work moves downstairs. The dust killing me already ... from the looks of it the renovation work won't be finished for this year..

house renovation is still going. Been two weeks now we had to move out of the house as the renovation reaches the main areas...bathroom, kitchen and dining and the living room. The renovation has revealed a few things such as mold, rotted wooden beams, bricks that needed caulking...whole heap of stuff. Kinda felt like we bit off more than we can chew but this is all for the best.

The bedroom is almost done. Sorry I don't have pics to share, as I'm on a dial up connect...slow mo. So bedroom to be painted in a neutral colour I selected. I'm going for carpet in the bedroom but I don't know.... I'm tired of the vacuum. We did a major renovation by adding a 1/2 master bathroom from bedroom access. We live in an over 100 y.o. house and I guess in those days a master bathroom the bedroom wasn't planned for.

The main bigger bathroom downstairs is all gutted out. It is not a large bathroom, so small space to make functional. Tile selected. We decided to not put in a tub but to have a built up tiled bath...I did the blueprint draft of how it should all look. Wish I could take a pic of my blue print and post it for you all. Lawd bathroom fixtures very expen$ive.

Kitchen...floor torn up. We decided to keep the current cubpoards.. remove the current doors on the cupboards and install glass doors. Too much $$$ involved for new cupboards. SO, we are doing some free standing shelves.

Living room carpet to be removed and replaced with wood flooring...the floating type.

Hope to be back in my house by spring. We're at a house we own but it does not quite feel like home.

gosh, its a one hundred year old house...
oh u have latte walls....and plaster..
who..now a know just wha u up against.
A property that I own is one hundred years old too, and it was quite a lot of money to restore it..
In fact, the building is 101 years old..
So good luck inna u renovations as I now realise u have u work cut out..
You really need to be out of there, as in the days they had lead paint and that stuff does travel in the air and can cuase cancer..

yes...an old brick house with some kind of cement on the inside walls. It was hard to come out...you know, home. We're replacing everything...from doors, windows, flooring. Knock out window way to make it into a big door way (french doors that goes out on the deck. Lots of work and my husband being such a savvy barter and trader...some of his good friends are construction and carpenters, so labour value is very reasonable. The value of the house will triple.... hahahaha! and we had paid $15,000 for the house when we bought it over 10 yrs ago. Can't beat that.

thats a great deal. I paid a bit more and mine is also worth a lot more now , or so the insurance company tells me..
I can actually see the work u doing too..
I know that u planning to update the plumbing and the electrical like I had to doo...
The township made me update it to code because of the age of the priperty and the fact that i needed more modern appliances..
Sandi, I found out tjat 100 year ole prpertys can get money and listed as historical landmarks..

Sandi, i am glad it is progressing, and more importantly that you have somewhere else to live. Renos are exensive financially and emotionally!

The only thing about the historical designation is that it often places wicked restrictions on how/what you can do - meaning, it has to fall with in "historically correct aesthetic guidelines" often. Mind you don't get into something you don't want, for the sake of a sign near your door.

My house is coming near 200 yrs old now. I am certain it wouldn't pass the guidleines, if for no other reason than it is vinyl sided (we bought it that way).

the house renovation soon done... overall plumbing and basement left. this has been a very expen$ive project. some times a clash of words .... patience tested and selecting the bathroom was the most tedious. When you have two meticulous people with an eye for detail and perfection...things can come to a stand still.

All and all, I love what I've been seeing and dying to move back in.
