planting them every other year, is another way, that I beat the winter doldrums, aka, the jamaican version of "I hate fe see snow", and the winter blues..
This morning, I planted some in participation of not being able to see a beautiful garden anywhere. At least, I can plant to see some beautiful plants in my house..
So here goes how fe plant dem..

What are paper whites?

Well you know the gardening for me doesn't end with winter. All the tropical plants are inside, so the routine of plant care continues. Last weekend I came home from JA with 3 orchids, a heliconia plant, a begonia that I'd never seen before and some alocasia tubers. I need a greenhouse badly.

i will have u to know that orchids are one of my favs for the house..
A just waiting fe Sams Club fe come out again, with the giant orchids that they had earlier in the year fe buy couple.. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img]

Paper whites are bulbs like daffadils that u can force to bloom inside of the house..
Dem have a nice fragrance too u see..

SandiF....how did you bring orchids home from ja? is that legal? i'd LOVE to do that.

speaking of orchids, i have two of my 3 orchids sending out buds right now! Can't tell you how that excites me...closest i'm going to get to birthing a baby...lol [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

Mi just wrap it inna damp newspaper and neatly pack it in my luggage. Me nuh know bout nuh legality...customs was more interested in the Appleton Gold, cigars and coffee than the plants.

I got these orchids from my aunt's husband...a bonafide plant-a-holic. He's got a wide range of exotic plants, mi mout was just salivating at his collection.
