I dont think it can be done yourself.. it is a big job.

but I dont have estimates in your area. I would suggest you call about 4 heating & cooling places to get a feel on the price & level of service

yeah, that isnt something u do on your own. u need professionals.

i think the last time i did it, it was around 100 to 150 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

something like that...the furnace and all the vents were cleaned.

up here how they work is there is a "hook up fee" then a per vent cost...like nylah said up her eis in the 100-150 range

they cut a hole in main duct and hook up a high powner vacuum hose then feed a air nozzle down thru each vent to move debris to the main hole.

ok...last question (mi think)...

you call heating and cooling people to do it, correct?

mi ongly asking cah mi starting to get nuff mailers bout dis company and daht smaddy...daht run duct cleaning and having specials.

oh, and

i assume i am to pay per vent plus whatever they charge to come out, right?

i recall paying a per vent charge above a certain number of vents (i think over 20 )

over here, there is no per vent charge..
dem charge u per house, but u haffe read the fine print..
If dem a quote u a square footage on the house, den dem a go tack on more..
Personally, once u do it, u find that a no nutten major..
In fact me wayna look pon one yesterday, and the highest price me see is $165 per house..
the lowest is $130.

If u see dust round u house, and the windows arent open, den u need to get duct clearning, cus thats an indication that u furnace, a bloow in dust inna de house.. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70390-shhh.gif[/img]

So do you call cooling and heating people to do the work?

Oh and how long does the job take. I mean is it an all day thing? Or they come in the morning and then have to come back the next day?

I am only asking all these questions as this is the 1st house I have ever lived in with Ducts. I have always lived in steam heat/radiator places and window AC's.

if the hvac ppl offer at a resonable price den use dem ..but up here most of the companies offering it at a reasonable price is dat alone dem do.
