.. ok serious quiestion - Dis Hot water tank business..

and DIY junkies out deh can tell me bout the hot water tank?

Mi a try find out more information bout this fan that is connected at the top of the hot water tank.
Seems like some kinda exhaust fan, but not sure.
Mi googled it, but cant find nuh info that certify what mi looking fah.

Any DIY pros out dere can tell me:
- what is the name of that fan thing on top of the water heater
- what's it purpose (mi assume fi vent heat out)
- what if mi just plug it out (it meck too much noice and constanly running.. mi sure it a contribute to mi light bill)

it think it have sumtin to do wid di venting from the gas flame (im assuming is a gas heater)....the power provides the automatic ignition so if you plug it out it wont heat.

di hot water heater in my old house had a fan. i have sinced assumed that it is because my old house ran off gas/oil and electric.

this house's hot water heater doesnt have a fan. this house is all electric.

actually...it not too bad.

wi install all high efficiency energy saving appliances, windows, doors, floors, etc. plus di insulation (in the walls and attic) is nice and thick. mi really see di diffence in the bill once the heating/cooling system was installed. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

di current mr ilp want to do some modifications to wi roof. so when that done the energy costs should come down some more.

Meeda call it "Exhaust Fan" but like me seh, mi nuh know nutting bout dem ting deh.

But mek sure seh yuh nuh leff it off fi too long caw ayda unu might can catch carbon monoxide poisoning or di ting can catch fiyah.

is how much smaddy dead weh mi use to live sake ah di exhaust thingy not working properly. im fi mek sure im ventelate (sp) im place till dem come service it.

ETA: pluggin it out willhave the same effect as if there was a powe outage...when theeis an outage i dotn have to worry about fumes from my furnace or water heater ..they have electronic ignition and no pilot burner so if there is no power no flame so no fumes
