I really should have worked like everybody else today but my heart just wasnt in it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] so I decided to just head outdoors and enjoy the day cause none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

I spent the entire afternoon planting vegetables and adding flowers to my containers - and yes I feel much better now [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img] for me it just lift everything that is on my mind.

All of my soil is organic top soil mixed with compost. I purchase the compost right now and dont make it myself. Tonight i did look in one store for a compost bin but the store closed before i had time to really look. So i think tomorrow i will head out and find a compost bin and start doing it myself.

u have rhuburb as well - does u variety look different from mine? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

a tink a 2-three me plant but a only one come up. Me musse did leave dem too long...
the leaves are green, but the stem is brite red..

me woulda love fe have compost bin with a handle, but the cost..
U know, I really should treat myself, cus tomorrow really is promised to no one..

so far, i have seen compost bins in the flyers running about $60. Since it is a long weekend here and it is the time everyone around here starts planting, I want to buy one now while the sale prices are still in effect.

I have two different varieties of rhubarb. the one in the picture produces ALOT of stems and yes they are really bright red and thick. dont remember the name. It is indigenous to Alberta though. I pay no attention to it and the thing just grows like wild fire. I cut it back and in 2 weeks I have another huge plant.

It makes the best jam and compote [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hungry.gif[/img]

the other one is called a German rhubarb and the flavor is not as intense. Kinda on the delicate side - less bitter. Works nice in cakes and crumbles.

Me noh know bout buying dat..
me have a pile, but it just deh pon open ground, and me tun it occasionally..
I started one lass fall, so itbeen sitting outside fe a while..
I turn it occasionally, but it gets heavy...
I have turned it once so far, and I know I need to turn it more often, but a help me haffe beg, cus of the weight..
Me a get ready fe put it pon the soil fe de tomatoes doe. It meks dem big and pretty u see..
Dem grow tall too. better dan synthetic fertizlers..
