The Rawson family has no problem lassoing in a good time at their very own Rawson Ranch, in scenic San Diego. Laurie and Don and their two children have everything they need to grill a delicious dish — and do it in high style. Their outdoor kitchen boasts an industrial-powered grill, compact refrigerator, and large island bar. The columns atop the bar even have waterfalls built into each of them!
One of the Rawson family's favorite things to do is chill out in front of the fireplace, complete with a wraparound waterfall, and watch TV — the 42" hydraulic TV that rises from the ground with the simple press of a button. When they want a little shade, they simply roll out the automatic awning (top right) over the whole space. This place is entertaining morning, noon, and night!

Philadelphians Kim and Joe Cilio's Italian-inspired kitchen is a great spot to sit back and relax – especially since the family has designed all the furniture. These furniture manufacturers created a space where they can mix business and pleasure, and they use it not only as a showcase for their merchandise, but also to grill out year around and keep warm by the fire. Designer Chuck Hess made sure it has everything any grill master could ever dream. The main grill itself has an infrared burner as well as a side burner. It's flanked by a sink on one side and a refrigerator on the other. All those stainless appliances are complemented by the gorgeous granite countertops
The view's not too bad either, as the partially enclosed pavilion opens up to a sprawling garden landscape. The rough sawn cedar of the pergola creates wonderful light and shadows for the entire space. The natural flagstone surrounding the fireplace and on the wall by the stairs serve as anchors.

In downtown Manhattan, Julie and Stephen Corelli own a spectacular multi-floor loft, topped by an 1,100-square-foot kitchen on the roof. This space, formerly a shoe warehouse, is bigger than most New York apartments and features comfortable outdoor furniture for a quiet, relaxing evening or for hosting parties. The Corellis got tired of climbing the stairs from the main living area to the roof to entertain, so architect Stephen designed this kitchen. It's their own private version of a sidewalk cafe. Plenty of plants and flowers help soften up the place and to top it off — that beautiful view of Manhattan.
The Corelli kitchen comes equipped with state-of-the-art stainless-steel appliances including a grill, a refrigerator and a dishwasher that is hidden away to blend in with the cabinets. The cabinets themselves are made out of flame-resistant African wood and are topped by an extra-long countertop made from a natural material called curt stone.

This fabulous kitchen, designed by California homeowners Sioux and Terry Elledge, really rocks! The steady beams holding up the roof are earthquake ready and can withstand heavy tremors. The roof is made out of bamboo fencing and is covered in corrugated plastic to protect the kitchen from the rain. There's also a restaurant-style heating system for those chilly Napa Valley nights. Even more impressive are all the little personalized details, especially the handmade gates that hold empty wine bottles they have shared with friends
The stone fireplace is powered by gas instead of wood and has a customized range hood, surrounded by Chinese imperial slate countertop and a matching backsplash. The rotisserie grill is in the center of a spectacular stone sink — a solid piece of granite that took two men and a small boy to carry. Plenty of storage space on either side of the grill holds a wide range of dishware. Sioux Elledge likes to switch out her dishes, depending on the occasion.

The Cardinale kitchen in Los, Gatos, Calif., is located on a private half-acre vineyard. The country-style space is the toast of the town. Homeowners Elaine and Rex transformed it from a plain, desolate lot into an authentic Tuscan estate with one spicy outdoor Italian kitchen. The grill boasts 60 inches of cooking power, complete with four burners, an infrared burner, a rotisserie and a compact, but powerful built-in smoker for steamed dishes. There is also a refrigerator and sink. A 1,000-square-foot organic veggie garden is just down the stairs, which serves as the Cardinales very own homegrown grocery store right in the backyard. This place is like a little piece of Italy right in the United States. Magnifico!
The authentic wood-fired Viloriani pizza oven was shipped piece by piece straight from Napoli. The specialized clay structure is extremely efficient at retaining heat. And pizza isn't the only thing it's good for. Vegetables, potatoes and even steaks turn out quite tasty, according to Rex Cardinale, who learned how to prepare them on a recent trip to Italy.

Chicagoans Jeanne and Kevin Poorman sunk a lot into their outdoor kitchen – especially by designing the whole thing around a $4,000 Italian travertine sink they decided they just couldn't live without. Kevin, formerly a chef in New Orleans, is serious about his food and the place in which it is prepared.
This Southern-style kitchen has it all, including the mother of all gas grills. It has eight burners, two industrial-powered side burners, a rotisserie rack for those big jobs and warming drawers for the dishes. There's also a stainless-steel refrigerator with a built-in ice-maker. That's just on one island! The second one, on the opposite side, contains a high-powered charcoal grill, an egg-shaped smoker and a second sink with garbage disposal. And to top it all off they've got a wood-burning pizza oven (center).

Hidden behind Sandra and Dan McDowell's Calabasas, Calif., home is a four-star grilling getaway that looks like a swank hotel resort. The kitchen itself comes complete with a double-wood smoker, 42" six-burner rotisserie grill, compact countertop ice maker, refrigerator and a fully stocked stainless-steel cocktail bar. Fiber-optic lights run through the countertops for evening gatherings. To cool off, guests can take a dip in the pool or chill out at the swim-up bar. There's even a Foosball table.
The McDowells' outdoor living room is across the lawn from the large pool. To get to it, guests have to walk on water! A second, smaller pool has stepping stones right on the water. The space includes a wood-burning fireplace and additional seating, plus a mister system that quickly cools the air on those steamy California days

Created by homeowner and world-renowned pool designer Skip Phillips, this outdoor kitchen in Escondido, Calif. really makes a splash! It's got a multi-level kitchen area with side-by-side compact grills integrated into the countertop. One is powered by gas for quick cooking jobs, and the other by charcoal to get that slow, flamed-broiled flavor. There's also a sink, built-in ice chest and just down the stairs is an imported Greek pizza oven with its own built-in seating area. Behind the kitchen is a second seating area, complete with a wood-burning fireplace and one spectacular view. In the center of it all is a vanishing-edge pool with a swim-up bar connected to the kitchen. Lots of chimineas are dotted around for nighttime dining, and there's even a pool table made to withstand the outdoor elements.
Ths pizza oven, imported straight from Greece, really takes the pie! Homeowner and designer Skip Phillips put in a stone rubble bench and topped it with a couple of pillows to create additional seating.

Dianne and A.G. Kawamura of Sacramento, Calif., have brought the best of the indoors to the outdoors with an awesome setup that includes a wood-burning pizza oven, a rotisserie grill, gas burners and a warming drawer for plates. The kitchen area is enclosed underneath an all-weather pavilion with full overhead lighting, misting sprayers and ceiling fans to cool off guests on hot days and heaters for cool nights. What makes the biggest splash are all the bonuses — the swimming pool, lounge area, outdoor dining area and second pavilion that has been transformed into an outdoor living room, complete with fireplace, overhead lighting and lots of guest seating.
This place is not just a kitchen – it's an entire outdoor living space, all housed under a decorative open air pavilion. It boasts stainless-steel appliances and countertops made from poured concreted, topped with bullnose travertine tile.

Linda and Fedele Bauccio of Mendocino, Calif., are pros in the restaurant biz, so they knew a thing or two about how to make their kitchen cook. And they claim the top spot because they have raised outdoor kitchens to new heights – literally. With four different cooking stations, they have a wood-burning rotisserie grill that pops out of the ground thanks to a handy spit crank, a pizza oven integrated into the wall, an industrial-style grill and a convection oven used just for baking. There's also a sink, dishwasher and fireplace. The electronically retractable sunroof allows guests to enjoy the sunshine or close it up in the rain. It's the perfect spot for grilling and chilling high atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific; Every last seat is filled, come dinnertime!
