Sorry. It took me there. Anyway.

I think the range. I have a cooktop and at first I was excited about it until I learned that it can be scratched and it can be difficult to clean and you can't spill sugar on it while cooking and blah blah. The cooking doesn't stop when you turn a burner off so if you're not careful things burn. Until you figure it out it's hard to gauge temperature level. If I had to replace it, I'd probably go back to a range.</span>

that sounds like an electric cooktop blu

gas cooktops look nice &amp; modern but I do wonder what they will look like in say 10 years..


whereas with changing stove technology one can easily update the range in one shot .

I am confused - the electric stove is a cooktop and not a range Kia? I refer to everything as a range so I dont always understand others definition!

I have only had an electric cooktop and have only used a gas one minimally when I would visit my Grandma. I really like the gas stoves but they intimidate me so I cant say which I like better.

Electric glass top ones are a MAJOR pain to clean when you spill crap on them.

I've heard the perfect combination is a gas cooktop &amp; electric oven. The electric oven keeps a steadier more even temperature so it's great for roasting &amp; baking, where the gas flame is easier to contorl for stovetop stuff that gets adjusted all the time.

gas stoves have come a long way from grandma's days nylah

they come in cooktop and in a range now

they have slide in cooktops and the traditional ones that are inserted onto the countertop too.

personally I like gas stoves. you have more control of the heating element moreso than with an electric one.

sounds good. I was considering a dual fuel convection range so there would be gas on the stove but electric in the oven without having a separate unit (and space) for both.

okay okay - I get what you are saying now. I have seen the slide in cooktops for gas and just love those. My next stove I would really like to have a gas option so I can get used to cooking with gas. Food taste better from gas cooktops to me.

Before my girlfriend moved out East, she had a convection range and that thing was the bomb

We used to do game night and each of us would bring food/dessert to make at her house. It was amazing how quickly and evenly it cooked or baked food. You did have a bit of a learning curve to understand how it works.

There is also a new type of range I saw at the Home &amp; Garden show a few years back - I wish I could find the link - but it operates like a glass top range but the heating coils ONLY heat up when copper type pots are placed on them.

The second you remove your pan/pot, the heat stops conducting. You can put you hand or a piece of paper on it and you will feel nothing! Coolest thing I have ever seen. They also melted chocolate pieces on the coils that were in a paper plate.

</div></div> <span style="color: #3333FF">Oh, I thought electric cooktop was what you meant. Yes, the one we have is electric with glass/ceramic, whatever. I've never seen a gas cooktop, is it flat, also, underneath glass or ceramic?

I would prefer the flame, it's easier to regulate. As far as the oven, though, I suppose the electric is better. One good thing about the electric is that I never have to worry about smelling gas or a pilot light. </span>

you are right - downpayment on house So, I keep watchin my House &amp; Home magazines each year to see how much the price has fallen. The technology is about 4 yrs old so I can still wait abit for the prices to fall.

that is the induction cooktop I Electrolux is marketing. It can be had for about $1599 with lots of change.
