Harvest Time

So what did you harvest from your garden?

I got:

spagetti squash
zuchinni (?sp)
strawberries
swiss chard for days
green onions
garlic
fennel - Twiny come get it before I eat it
carrots - which I didnt know grew until I pulled the swiss chard
spinach
lettuce - finished that in August
rosemary
basil
parsley
mint
thyme
sage
and of course - tons of green tomatoes
yellow tomatoes that taste fantastic!
I think that covers it

You stay there

I have a small backyard so I can only grow so much.
I definitely wont grow the squash and zucchini next year. Those things take up so much space and choke out everything else

in FL my father grew a pumpkin the sitten big like

the neighborhood kids come and peek at it through the fence, yuh know the halloween looking pumpkin.

I am pleased to report that MrKia's attempt at the pumpkin failed this year -- I cant stand how the vine just tek ova de yawd-- apparently the lawn guy mussi mow it ova

callaloo (yes still and mi haffi cut more off tomorrw)
rhubarb
eggplant
mint
potatoes - a surprise due to composting i guess
some odda stuff but mi noh memba

Oh thanks Kia, I forgot that I had rhubarb, tons of beets , and some potatoes too. First time I did potatoes and they are lovely!

I grew the green onions, the yellow tomatoes, and all of the herbs in containers.

I had one strawberry plant in a pot although it didnt grow as well as the ones in the ground.


the fennel can be potted as well as the mint. Unless you have lots of space you want to grow mint in a pot/container because it loves to spread and choke out every thing else around it

Oh, and lettuce is really pretty in large pots

I would wait until spring because I think even in your temperature zone, the seeds wouldnt survive the cold.

The good thing is you can probably plant much earlier in the spring than I could and then have a longer yield time

some come with my hours of operation

I was just outside and found some peppers that I forgot I planted.

The strawberry plants had swallowed the poor pepper plant but it still survived.
