Popcorn Removal Project

I just started the removal of popcorn from my bedroom ceiling.

So far, so good. I sprayed with vinegar and warm water solution and the popcorn just slid off.

I don't know where the camera is. This popcorn removal is the first part of a bedroom re-do project. So everything is packed up and piled up somewhere in the house.

Maybe I will take picture when I am done.

Popcorn removal
Sand, prime and paint ceiling
Paint walls and trim
Change carpet
Accessories

BTW, the ceiling should be painted before the walls correct?

yes pepper ceiling first. Have you chosen a colour? Generally speaking the trend is to tint the ceiling paint one or two shades lighter than the wall

I haven't picked out a color yet. I hope to get inspired once the popcorn is done and the ceiling is primed.

So ceiling white is not good huh? Too boring? I didn't know the trend was to go a couple shades lighter on the ceiling.

I didnt know that vinegar and water would remove popcorn.

NO it wasn't tiring at all.

Last night I figured I would do a small section to see what kind of ceiling I have, how tuff the popcorn is, etc. I did an area about maybe 6'x2', and it went very well. The popcorn came off like butter. The board beneath it looks to be in very good shape. So tonight I am going to see how far I can get with the rest of the room.

1 part vinegar to 10 parts warm water.

Yes it is very messy. But I am not using a drop cloth because the walls are being painted and the carpet is going. I have the carpet on order. Schedule install date is next Wednesday. If I don't finish my part by then, they will move the date back.

But bottom line, I am not using a drop cloth. So the popcorn is all over the place.

I wish I could find my camera.

I finished scraping off the popcorn. I have a few rough and missed spots that I need to sand down. Will do that in a bit.

I went to home depot and now have several color booklets, etc. Decisions, decisions.....
