Top vs Front

Well – past 3 months I’ve researched the heck out of these new front load, colorful as heck, washing machines and dryers. Wanted to buy the front load ones to save on water and energy and because I wanted to be able to stack them – save on space.

You know what – I think I’m going with the good old fashioned top loaders.

Some things I keep finding with the front loaders – many models and brands have problems with leakage at the front doors. Pretty much most, if not all, require that you use High Efficiency Detergent.

Mi rah – mi nuh ha dem deh breed ah money fi spen pan soap fi wash mi clothes dem.

Iffin mi likkle Fab nah wuk, mi nah use iee.

Other issue I’ve come across is mold. Can bother to go into it http://blogs.consumerreports.org/hom...n-washers.html but front load washers have a mold issue that can crop up – don’t have to worry about this with top loaders.

Going with the top loader because you can STILL find some that are energy star and that use less water.

I wont lie – have fallen in love with the looks and nice colors etc but I can’t see paying soooo much money for a washing machine and dryer – not when I can avoid so many of these issues, can get the same or similar performance from the top loaders AND pay a bit less for it.

The brand I’m finding the best reviews is Electrolux and heaven knows – mi nah nuh Electrolux money!!!

If anybody here has had any of the mold issues, let me know.

what I do is leave the door of the washer ajar which reduces the mold and smell issue

as for the he detergent.. use regular detergent and use less

they do make a product called Afresh you can use to ward off the mold issue I think u use it about 1x a month.

mine is in use daily so ie noh really ketch a break fi anyting fi grow

have you looked into european brands? they are generally smaller and stack well. Asko, Miele come to mind.

Dont know much about electrolux except I bought a sweeper vac in costco and the sitten stop work but since I bought it at costco I could return it without a receipt & get mi money back

Looked at all of them Kia - all of them.

Also went thru all of the listed ones in Consumer Reports Feb 09 issue and Feb 05.

I think what I'm going to do is get rid of the double utility sink and just have the single sink, and then the 2 machines side by side.

yes side by side better and as long as you have space to fold the clothes in deh u set.

I went with the front loader because I needed a place to fold the clothes.. They are side by side, easier for all in the home to reach

oh the installer told me that unless you are tall the stacked machine business is hard to deal with cause you have to reach up and IN to the machine to pull out the clothes.. can be a drag after a while and people do call to have them move the dryer side by side.
