Here.

This is a recent pix I took after cleaning up the front yard this season.

As I mentioned I painted some of the pots dark red, hence why I was thinking white flowers might pop better.

The shrubs along the pathway are cut right down and so are the lavendar plants that are closest to the stairs.

As you can see, the property line isnt too far away from the edge.

debated putting this one up but here is a wider shot of the other side.

The black edging infront of the window is going to be replaced with bricks this year. Again, have some baptism money to spend but to afraid to part with it til I know EXACTLY what I want

it won't show...the mulch will cover it up....again...this is hard to explain without demonstrating.

maybe if i get my edger out this weekend...i can try to get some photos.

I have new neighbors on the left side and I dont know if I will be three times lucky. The last 2 neighbors, I was lucky that each husband was willing to mow and shovel my lot as well

But I have a lawn mower now just in case I need it do it myself from now on It is so small doing it wont kill me but I have been spoiled

more thoughts coming to me...

maybe you could taper those beds from from to back...going wider to meet that first step?

i'm just thinking...adding some perennials...then you can fill in with your annuals

perennials in back...let's say, purple coneflower

as you work towards the front, a couple day lilies, those will bloom midsummer, as will the coneflower.

maybe a stella d oro day lily towards the front, those are smaller and tend to bloom early and longer.

just some thoughts.

the pots...for me...i like to play with dif plants in them..newer varieties...dif combos. but that's just me. is it sunny up in there?

Yes, the front gets alot of sun during the summer, although it is also windy.

I moved the Peony bush that used to under the window to the backyard because of it.

And I had two shumac shrubs at the base of the stairs that died off because of the wind

I replaced those with the Lavender bushes which you cant really see since I cut them back.

I have been eyeing some coneflowers which seem to do really well in this area. Many ppl plant them. I just wonder how the do with the wind? Otheriwse they should look nice near the lavender bushes at the stairs.

I like the idea of widening the area from front to back.

Maybe I can incorporate the right side into the garden area under the window where the cedar tree is?

We are on the same page with the lilies since I always buy day lilies for either the pots and/or the area under the window.

I am trying to move away from annuals because it is just too damn expensive. So, I'll just play with the pots like I have but incorporate more pernnials in the garden itself and have a few annuals to fill.

It doesnt look like it but those shrubs I have get BIG by mid-summer but that is also on me to trim them back so they dont drown out the other plants. I moved two that were in the front portion under the window <span style="font-weight: bold">to just under </span>the window.

Gonna try to sketch out widening the pathway area and see how it looks

The red mulch just drains all the color out of the view so I want to change that to something else.

****oops. this is a picture from the beginning of <span style="font-weight: bold">LAST</span> spring. I forgot that those terracota (sp?) pots are all painted a deep deep red courtesy of me ****** Hence why thr white flowers looked nice but the washed out red mulch looks terrible now.

I just cant seem to make up my mind what colors I want to work with this year especially since I want to change up the walk way.

Why not red mulch?.........think the black might look morbid
