Diner booth bench...

My latest "recycling" project.


This was in my nephew's house when they bought it. Sunday he brought it to me. He's not a "recycler: like me. Good for me.


The bottom has been closed in and the seat hinged so it can be used for storage. It needs new hinges and some serious refinishing. Not into the whole stripping and refinishing thing, so I'm going with my favorite.
A nice coat of primer, then some fresh paint.

So, do I go with white? Black? Color?

My rooms walls are all white.

The curtains, they look more blue than they really are, they are more of a teal color...


And lots of smaller black accents, clock, picture frames, shelf brackets...

I want to cushion the seat as well.

So, wha yuh tink?

I swear, I am going to drag you to my house so you can do my DIY projects

I am almost leaning towards white but it depends on how much other black u have in the room to anchor the space?

If not alot of black or color on other items, then maybe the bench should be black... I know, not much help

Okay....if it was me and how I like things, I would do white for the bench and have cushions with black or dark colored accents to make it "pop"....See, I can make a decision

I am officially jealous. What color is the couch? And what about your painted coffee table? I am remembering something about one but I can't remember the colors! What an awesome addition to your furniture!

Nan, the couch is whatever color sheets I cover it with!
Sometimes light purple, sometimes dark purple, sometimes lime green, sometimes beige. The couch is oatmeal color. But it's a hand-me-down as well and can be whatever color I want.

The dining table & chairs are white wrought iron with blue & black upholstry. It's the original and i may cover the seats in black eventually.

I was thinking black with a cushion that would go with the color of the drapes. Then again, I may go to Ikea and get the same drapes in Lime green... They're only $9.99 a pair and the chair backs have some lime green in the print.

A lime green cushion on a black bench? YES!!

hmmmmm..... You know, I was thinking of an accent wall to match the curtains, but the colors I'm likin may be too much. But the booth is high enough to be an accent all on it's own...

i vote black. cushions...hmmmmmm...something bright, maybe striped or a pattern of some sort. blue, black and green?

The bench is still right where the boys left it when they carried up the stairs.

The next generation in my family hasn't discovered the joy of recyling just yet.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking the black paint would work, then I can always change the cushions out to suit the rest of the room.

Great! Just tell your family to keep on bringing tings like that bench. You sound very excited about this project. I like the black idea and change the cushions whenever you want.

Is just a matter a makin up mi mine.

Maybe I'll put some faux bamboo to match di bawtchroom door. But a time cansumin ting dat!
