Basement flooring options

So last weekends storm gave us an unplanned swimming pool.

1/2 the basment is carpeted, the other half original linoleum.

Am looking for an alternative to the carpet which may have to be pulled up (we are trying to avoid this but day 3 and it still moist which is not a good thing ).

Underneath the carpet is the concrete floor.

Was thinking of leaving the concrete floor and just putting down rugs with extra padding but as it is cold down there would also have to address a heating issue.

Any viable suggestions or should we just go back to carpet and seh we noh get a next pool

the formerly carpeted area was the kids family room so it should be child/teen friendly yet functional for the adults who may venture down there

Kia – we went to someone’s house not long ago and went down to their basement.

For unrelated reasons, I’d taken some pictures.

One thing I liked about the basement, was the tile they had on the floor. The tile was installed meticulously - I loved it.

I don’t know if you can see it here but you should be able to – even if you have to + the picture on your computer.

Firstly, they reminded me of home.

Second, easy maintenance.

If there’s water in the basement, a flood – just mopping needed for clean up.

They have this tile all thru out the basement.

On this side of it, with all the appliances, they’ve left it exposed.

On the other side where the sitting area and tv are, they have carpeting there. But again, if there’s water, they can easily just pull up the carpet and replace it – or rip it up and leave the tile exposed and just use some area rug/carpet.

I have another thing for you but I’ve left it at home – will post it when mi ketch eeen.

I did mine in laminate that looks like hardwood. The only exception was the laundry room which I put tiles in. Both are inexpensive and the laminate is easy to re-lay if it ever does suffer water damage.

only thing I would do different is spend the extra money to put in in floor heating under the laminate and tiles.

Yuri the tiles are nice but dont think that would work for us as it is in the winter and in the summer. The tiles wont help.

I should add the way my home is designed what the basement consists of is, 2 rooms, the playroom and the workshop.

The workshop can remain concrete because it is more of a storage space.

The playroom does need some covering.. carpet, gym mats?combination ? I doan know but have to think about it as the insurance agent say the cyarpet fi dash wey

get a room sized carpet that you can remove next time

they can cut the carpet to the exact size you want and bound the edges

at the first sign of flooding - you can go and pull it up

Seveen the first sign was 6 inches of wata but at least it can roll up easily &amp; get dumped

this may work thanks 1 large rectangle and 1 small rectangle

carpet is cheaper than tile

and a flood may spoil the tile - i can see the grout getting mucked up or even loosened if you don't catch it soon enough

is there anything that can be done to prevent flooding? sump pump?

flor have some heavy duty cheaper squares, at the first sign juss send the kids fi pull dem up and pack dem away till rain done
