no grass for me

the standard here is st augustine grass
after spending $1100 on sod within 4 years
i'm going to ecoscape my front lawn
native plants and flowers
so lower cost on watering, fertilizing and mowing
i'm going to start the project next week or so
here's the proposed plan

nice.. It was hard to read what the elm was surrounded by but I finally was able to read it.. Looks good!!

Sounds like you traded grass for weeding which does not have to be done so often

he doesn't want to do that since some of the plants are ground cover and are supposed to grow together (the asian jasmine and creeping rosemary)

Did your lawn guy ever mention spraying for bugs that eat grass? (I can't remember the name) THere is some bug(s) that feeds on grass, and if you don't kill them they will continue to eat as much grass as you lay down.

I had that problem, my neighbor told me my lawn looked like it was infected. Called the pest control man, and it looks like he killed them off.

Luckily I was able to save the grass on the front lawn, but the backyard was a total loss.

i pay $45 per month for someone to spray and fertilizer

matta of fact - they were just visiting my neighbor

this last time - i left the sign up outside to advertise - DOES THIS LAWN LOOK BUG FREE AND FERTILIZED

as my lawn guy was leaving - the other guy never turned to look at me - his sign is still out there - doing nothing - like his spraying

i think once a month is too much too - seems like if you kill something it should be dead

a lot of lawns in my neighbor are suffering with the same thing - some are just putting new sod down - a lawn smaller than mine is costing $1000 for new grass

my lawn guy doesn't think i'm going to like the ecoscape - that i'll be the only one in the neighborhood with that in my front yard

i'm liking the variety of plants, heights and smells

but i'm wondering if any of the plants are going to go wild and cause more problems than cutting grass - like the honeysuckle trellis

i know NOTHING about plants - the landscaper left me some magazines to read and i'm making my way through them

i wish i had bought a condo
