I don't know about you all, but I have had a mostly hate love relationship with weed whackers during my lifetime.
Well, the problems most run across with weed whackers/line trimmers are usually that by the time you pull the cord a bunch of times you might be too tired and worn out to use the damn thing. Many times once you get it running the the line will not feed properly, therefore having to stop and take the spool off and rewind the line.
Both of these problems have not been solved here in my yard!
I got this unit yesterday. It has a small electric starter box that I just squeeze my gas prime button a few times, flip the choke and then plug the plug in power start unit, turn the switch on for a couple of seconds and WALLA! The thing is running! YAYYY!!!!!
As far as the line spools, THERE IS NONE!!!!!!!!!
Instead, there is a strand of thick twisted line that is about 15 inches long. The spool area has 2 holes and you feed the line ends into each hole and pull it through. WALLA, line is new! The line is very thick, maybe 10 times thicker than regular line trimmer line and my first one lasted a good while, long enough for me to need a break anyway before I needed to change it. I bought at least a summers worth of extra line for 15 bucks. Easy peasy!!!
Who ever thought I could get so excited about a line trimmer! But this thing is amazing with the new technology and my job just got a whole lot simpler.
They have longer straight shafts but it seemed too bulky to me so I bought this one:

Oh happy day!!!

. I have struggled with them too and I really did not want to pull any more on a gas-powered whacker. Last year I found my true WW love and it is cordless
I have a Black & Decker cordless but my needs are not heavy duty.
