.. calling all subsistence gardn...a mean Farmers!

what unno planting this spring?
Mi have been a green thumb a yard, but never chanced the artics.. But want to do so this year.
Need some advice fi planting up north here.
What can be planted so mi can run a boat off it before di ground get cowl again ?

Mi waan grow Pepper, tomatis, pumkin, yam, potato and maybe cabbage fi start. A few herbs, mint, fever grass, di lot.

Any advice?
Thoughts/ advise of barrel gardening?
Need for hoop green house? What are the benefits?
Top Soil ideas?

I don't know if anybody recalls from when I joined last year, but I'm exceptionally fond of callaloo. I love it as much as somebody (no names called) loves oxtails.

Aside from it appearing every now and then in one farmers market on Spring Road, I could only get it from my friend's mother who grew it in her garden. Now she has gone back home to some interior part of Jamaica and her daughter (my friend) is not into gardening.

I believe it is also called dasheen, taro, and I'm not sure what else right this second but I've had tried to stay on top of the different names so I don't miss it when I see it. I do not like it canned and no amount of rinsing and seasoning makes it taste right to me.

So Kia, I come humbly asking if you have enough to share with me and vannie? I think the last frost of spring has passed here. When is planting time?

mi already have scotchie coming up nicely in a pot ...planting di usual calaloo an tomatoes...an wateva else mi feel inclined fi plant wen all danger of frost is gone

def doing cucumbers...we got so much last year an dem did big ie si

careful wid di mint X..dem is a nuisance

I am at the end of my season. This past winter I planted

Tomato (cherry and beefsteak)
Thyme
Calalloo
Sweet pepper
Cabbage
Brocolli
Skellion
Scotch bonnet
Pumpkin (pretty leaf and flowers, no pumpkin)
Eggplant

X you need to sow your seeds now indoors in little pots are trays then transplant when them get big. Make sure they get some heat to help the germinate
