They say fences make good neighbors. I would have to have one for sure. So you have red clay? I didn't remember that from your earlier posts. I have that crap and it is mud season right now, what a mess.
The only thing of value I can add to the conversation has to do with the red clay. All of the fences I have sunk posts for have done some major shifting with the frost heave ho's over the years. I had a vertical log wall thingie at the end of my driveway to hold the gate, it has heaved to the point of horizontal in the last 15 years, it is now laying in the field. My horse fence, which we built with solid corners the way I have always done it when I had black soil, was leaning all over the place within a couple three years.
The only posts I put in that are still straight vertical, are the huge ones I had a backhoe come and dig for a horse barn. I cemented those in and they are probably at least 4 feet deep.Comment

The brick I have is red and I use red wood chips in the garden.Comment
