I got a new vacuum cleaner!

I checked the UPS site, and it has been left at my door. It will be waiting on me when I get home.

I know it may sound pathetic to get excited about things like this, but you don't know what I was working with. I called my current one old yeller. It's yellow, and I can't remember the brand name.

This new one is not top of the line, but it is a Hoover.

I can't wait to get home and vacuum. (Yes, I know sad. SMH.)

This one is bagless too, and it works great!

My carpet hasn't looked this good in a month of Sundays.

Consumer Reports tests just about every vacuum cleaner made and according to them every single one, in the words of their testing experts, &quot;sucks&quot;.

Most of them start off pretty decent, but lose their original suction strength relatively quickly. They just aren't built to last. I won't pay a lot of money for one because then I'd really be irked if the lifespan is just as short.

I'll have a better idea about how this one stands up in a couple of months. For now, it's great and on the quiet side too. Plus, all I have to do is empty the container - no bags to buy.

Seriously Tulip,

Consumer Reports frequently does vacuum cleaner reviews in which they list ease of operation, how much dirt the vacuum cleaner spews into your air (not kept inside) noise levels, cost, repair records and several other things. Your public library may have the year end edition that lists everything from the previous 12 months issues

I know that the Kenmore brand of vacuums that Sears sells frequently get top ratings and that some of the very expensive ones and especially those advertised on those infomercials on TV are to be avoided.

I have a very good performing Kenmore canister model that was given to us by my mother-in-law who became too infirm to use it and yes, the bags are a pain and rather expensive for a piece of paper but it works very well.

We gave our very good Eureka canister vacuum to our niece and it is as good today as when we gave it to her several years.

This is true only because I do not think she has ever used it judging from the appearance of her floors.

She needs a rake not a vacuum.

I nearly died at your niece needing a rake. That tickled me.

I'm not doubting Consumer Reports. I used to have a subscription for the magazine long time. I tried to look up something online late 90s, and think i have beef with them because I didn't want to pay to see it.

My parents got a dyson or whatever that other one is and it seems to be working consistently well. I'm going to have see more than a good year of performance before I consider it.

In past reports I've read, the Dyson was rated overpriced and not one of the the best vacuum cleaners. They look cool though..Check out your public library for Consumer Reports. It's free there.
