Well, after much work in the spring to repair my anti-deer fence, they still got into the yard and nyammed the Hosta again sometime early this morning .
So it's back out today to walk around the entire fence for any possible point of entry and rewiring. I've tried a deer repellent but without much success.
Even were I into blood sports which I am not, I can't fire a rifle in my neighborhood since we're within the 500 feet or whatever it is the limit is for such things in a settled neighborhood.
Any ideas.
There was a product I saw years ago called:
"No Deer, Not Tonight" but I would guess you have to apply these products after any rain and having a fence that is many hundreds of feet long , that would be impractical.
Lion feces and urine are suppose to be really good deterrents but obtaining them fresh is a bit hairy and the zoo management is not likely to cooperate..
And no, I don't want a dog.
I could try getting up before dawn when the deer seem to like to hit the yard and just watching but I'm retired and am not supposed to have to get up early anymore.
I'd be fined by the AARP.
