contractor asked me to get a steel enamel bathtub, which are economical, but i've fallen in love with an acrylic bath because of the depth. its like PZ's, which i think is also acrylic.

they have tiles on sale cheap, and i'm thinking of getting this one:

i'm just wondering if I should get it done all the way up the wall like PZ's. the contractor wants to go only part-way up, but mi no know how dat ago look...

i'm getting a dual flush toilet, also on sale. surprisingly, the hardest decision for me is the vanity. contractor is advising cultured marble basin, but mi waan know wa wrong wid porcelain...

I like your color choice McGee. I assume by part of the way, your contractor mean only to the top of the shower head. That's surely functional with the proper paint, but I'd go all the way. You don't have like 16+ foot ceilings, right?

tulip, i have the standard height walls. right now, he would have to piece in the cement board backing for the tiles into the current wall if he doesnt go all the way up. i'll have to revisit this with him.

ETA: i think it's because I have a window, and he'd have to tile around it.

I like going all the way up, very spa like. Half way always look half baked. Mek di contractor add cement board.

I like the tile you chose. Get whatever vanity you like and can afford. It's your bathroom

get the nice soaking tub that you like so that you can come home after a long day at work and relax

Hi Sis MGee,

I can tell you one reason to choose the acrylic tub: it's much warmer in winter! Porcelain takes a lot of heat from your warm water and so might be more expensive to run.

Last bathroom renovation I did was in a tiny bathroom, but we managed to get into it an oval tub so big and deep I could actually FLOAT in it!

Those bubble baths were so lovely I hated to leave it behind.
I made the tile baseboard myself in my pottery studio.
Take your time and choose carefully because it will be an important comfort zone for you.

Nice. If you really like the steel enamel tubs, you could do like I do to warm up my clawfoot in winter, and set a radiator heater next to it for a half hour or so before you fill it with bath water. It works great, and you can set a towel on it after you turn it way down when you get in the water. Nice to come out to a warm towel!

for the bathtub area it is better to tile all the way up the wall...

i much rather the fiberglass (think it's same as acrylic) bathtubs but there are some nice steel ones. I don't know if there's a price difference but worth checking MG

the 12x12 tile is the one on sale, regularly 99cents per square foot, on special for 54 cents. mi hope dem have enuf left, sale ends Wednesday.

i wanted to use that tile for the floor, and look for a smaller contrasting tile for the bath tub surround, but could i find any?! \o/ so i might just use the sale tile for both wall and floor, especially now i've refreshed my memory of pz's re-do.

a spa-like look would be just the ticket, all like how mi a train fi a 5k for mid-october.

i so want a deep tub notn wuss dan try a screechie dung so u almoas a lay flat just to get your boobs underwater (then they decide to float ) . i'll have to pick something in between, and the acrylic tub i saw yesterday seemed to fit the bill.

i dunno, nanook, seems like a lotta work. plus, i aint crazy bout electricals next to bath water...

there's a price difference, Sandi mi see steel enamel tub fi $169.00, and the acrylic tub mi have mi yeye pon is $269 on sale. going for the acrylic, tho.
