<span style="font-style: italic">Do people stick with their home insurance until death do they part? Do peeps change frequently? Every few years? By whoever has the best rate?</span>

Who’s ur carrier for home owner’s insurance?

We have Traveler’s. Thankfully have never had need to use them.

First 2 years no change – the rate remained the same.

Just got our renewal and the rate went up by over $100. I know these things happen but, dang!

I called and asked them about it and just blah blah blah ...

Anyway am doing some digging – thought of bundling coverage with our Geico covered vehicles.

Compared apples to apples - got a quote from them.

They’re SIGNIFICANTLY lower.

What I don’t love is that Geico doesn’t actually <span style="font-weight: bold">provide</span> the home owners ins. They’re just an AGENT.

I know that farming out insurance to providers isn't uncommon, <span style="font-style: italic">but hear wha</span> ... feels weird.

They gave me a quote from 3 different insurance providers.

Have you all ever heard of:

ASI – american strategic insurance corp
Naragansett Bay Insurance
Arrowhead Insurance

Nope. Never had a claim.

They gave some blah blah blah reason for the increase saying they needed to do it statewide due to all kinda whatsitnatsit.

i would jus do a little research on the claim experience with any of those other companies and if they half decent mi gone to dem

I'm having a hard time Rich.

It's like a shot in the dark almost.

You can 100 good reviews and 100 bad reviews and what's it all mean.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with their home owners insurance and changing carriers - or if anyone ever heard of these 3 clowns.

from what mi hear, be careful with the ones that offer significantly lower rates, cause dem might usually give a hard time when it comes to paying out

Living in Florida, I don't have any choices, can't shop around and compare, just have to take what I get.

When I first purchased my house, my homeowners insurance was through the state of Florida. None of the insurers were writing new policies in Florida. Then after a couple of years, some company decided to write policies and the state transferred their policies to this company. Maybe two years later we had an active hurricane season, and that company went out of business, but another company took over the policies. I forget what happened with company #2, but I was transferred to a third company. I believe company #3 had some financial difficulties and went out of business and now as of last year I am back with company #2.

All this back and forth in 11 years. Thankfully I have never had a claim, and if I ever have to, I will just have to pray and hold my breath that it all works out. I envy those who can shop around for homeowners insurance.

Never heard of those two

I'm with Pepper don't have a choice worse how my house have flat roof, no one wants to touch it so mi stuck with the one I've and hope and praying they don't go out of business.

Yuri as you know you must have home owners insurance unless the house is for and you want to take the chance of not insuring it. Your mortgage company/bank always insist on your having hazard insurance and in some states/counties/cities you also need flood and hurricane insurance. My insurance on a condo went from $130+ annualy to over $370+ that is for hazard insurance mainly replacement of personal effects because how much can the walls of a 2 bedroom unit including kitchen and bathroom fixtures cost to replace. (State Farm). Remember that the condo association insures the outside of the buildings, common areas, side walk etc. I recently changed to Allstate and I saved $60 per annum. You do get a credit when you bungle your insurance policies. If you live in NJ (I may be mistaken but I believed you indicated that you did)- you may try New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company to see if you qualify.

Since on this thread last time, I’ve been researching and we’re confident it was a good move.

To my surprise she was as patient as an angel and answered every single question. I had a list of almost every possible scenario I could think of and ran her thru. Not that it puts my mind at 100% ease - because you know everyone always try and find a way to weasel out of promises - but at least we documented it all in fine detail.

So I ended up researching the providers that Geico uses. Amongst other things, did this by checking their reinsurer, and reviewing the state insurance commissioner’s reports. Plus going over the complaints they received the past 3 years.

I made sure the policy was apples to apples – not just fruit to fruit - we picked the provider we wanted and signed up. It’s saving almost half $ the amount. Added bonus is the discount because our vehicles are with them too.

Glad for the savings.

Good thing too because our next project, we want to upgrade the electrical for the house and also install
