Re: Tankless
Thanks Kia.
This is our next project. We know how they work & I've done loads and loads! of research - I've investigated quite a few brands but will prolly go with the Rinnai, I know that there can be a slight delay when you turn on the hot water but that's not a deterrent for me.
I'm curious to know what you find (if at all) what cons or downsides you've experienced?
What brand do you have?
Y 2?
How long have you had it?
Have you noticed any diff at all in you gas bill?
Do you prefer it to the old way?
Have you ever had your power go out - if so, what did u do for hot water!

David Hoh - our energy expertnow recommends Navien over Rinnai because when the Rinnai is being accessed by two sources it can lead to one person having cold water intermittently for a short period of time.

Re: Tankless
When I say old way - I was wondering if you prefer the tankless over the tank - but I get it in your answers.
Kia - did you get the 2 tankless at the same time or did you get one and then later down the line, come back and install the second?
Do you mind sharing the cost - you can pm me if need be.
How many bathrooms u hab?
Thanks so much.

Re: Tankless
it was done at separate times.. years ago we had an energy audit done and we had decided to go with 1 tankless... We did some renovations later on and realized the second tank was not working and then went with the second tankless at which time david recommended the navien
dont remember the cost but it is a long payback period > 5 yrs but in terms of immediate energy savings quite worth it
we have two sections to our home as the previous owner added on and designed it this wayIf you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

Re: Tankless
Got it got it.
Thanks.
Sounds like you're happy with it! That's good to know.
The only potential problem we may run into is the venting of it - the way our basement is situated, it may not work in the location we want it to go in but, we'll see.
We might suck it up and put it in a location that's our least favorite.

What brand do you have? Titan
How long have you had it? Several Years
Have you noticed any diff at all in you gas bill? yes, my electric bill has decreased. My family is small, so my bill wasn't that large to begin with. It went down about $10 per month.
Do you prefer it to the old way? love the extra space in my garage
Have you ever had your power go out - if so, what did u do for hot water! never been out long enough to be an issue, but in Florida we will knowing we can be a functioning stove, AC and water heater at any time.
The waiting a few seconds for hot water is not an issue. I usually run the shower water for a couple min to get it to the right temp. So instead of one minute, I now wait two. And to save water I turn on the water slowly at first, the increase the flow when I get the desired temp.
When washing dishes, I start washing and by the time the sponge is full of soap and the first item is soapy, the water is ready.
I also love that I am conserving energy and reducing my carbon footprint.7/5th of all people do not understand fractions.

Re: Tankless
Many thanks Pepper.
I've read some reviews online but it's always so much nicer and real, to get commentary and experiences from people that you 'know'.
I'm so praying we can resolve the potential venting issue that we're prolly going to run into.

Re: Tankless
Venting?I was wondering about that when I read it. I know we are in different locations, but mine is mounted on the wall in the garage. What kind of venting issue are you concerned with?

Re: Tankless
Our will be placed downstairs in our basement.
This means it has to be vented to the outside, vent must be above a certain grade, a certain distance from blah blah, unobstructed and all that.
