The Adult light formula. It is made by Diamond Foods. Diamond also makes other food under the Diamond brand, which also had a recall this month.
I have to say this makes me a tad nervous as I feed Taste of the Wild grain free Bison & Roasted Venison to most of my dogs, which is also made by Diamond. I have fed Chicken Soup food before I went grain free. Just the connection between manufacturer and brand has me a tad nervous,
Check your food bags YES CAT PEEPS TOO...to see who the manufacturer is for the foods you are feeding. If you feed Chicken Soup Dog or cat, or any Diamond Food manufactured food I'd stay on top of this, who knows the source at this point. While you are at it, do a little homework to find ratings by consumers and other pertinent information, about the food you are currently using.
After the massive recalls a few years back I have been steadily scaling back on what I will feed. In at least the past year I have fed strictly grain free foods to minimize the ingredients list, as the grains in most commercial foods are in a particularly wishy/washy market. Companies procure the corn, etc from wherever the market is lowest on that day. in any regards, this could be from China or who knows where, where regulations are slack. I truly believe in the least amount of ingredients in the food is best. My whole crew is looing great, even my 16 and some year old Ziggy.
I feed Paris and 2 MinPins Natural Balance chicken & sweet potato LID (limited ingredient diet), each for different reasons, and though it is expensive, at one time pretty much the best food out there. Nowadays there are even more pure & even some organic options for even more $$. In the end, you do get what you pay for when it comes to dog food.. If I had but one or two, I would definitely be feeding the organic foods.
If anyone wants more info on the organic food I have been seeing lately, just ask and I will get you more info for everything from organic to frozen raw and freeze dried options that though more costly per pound, they contain the necessary nutrients with the least amount of additives in everything from frozen raw, freeze dried, and kibble form.
Salmonella contamination of one bag of Diamond Pet Food's Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food has led the company to recall bags with four production codes. There have been no canine illnesses reported, but the company has a history of pet food contamination, including one event in 2005 in which dozens of U.S. dogs died after eating food contaminated with fungus. Production was suspended at the plant where the food was made after a separate recall this month. Google/The Associated Press (4/26)
