Your Pet and That Time of the Month

Madame Butterfly was spayed as a puppy but she still has Lady's Days. It's not every month but often enough that I have noticed a pattern to her mood swings over the past four years.

For example, we typically take 3 walks a day - 2 for business and 1 for pleasure. These walks are normally a pleasant experience, but yesterday she was completely own way. At one point, I even found myself chastising her.... "So fuzzy britches, you not even going to try to get it in the grass? You just going to ish right here on the concrete huh."

I know that men have Lady's Days too even though they try to deny it lol, but does this happen with pets other than dogs?

not cats. amy doan even have mood swings.

(but max has retained him instinct to roam even tho' him neutured or maybe one doan influence the other? )

Hmmm...and I would have thought cats were the moodiest of all. I had never really thought of them as the obedient type.

oh..i don't expect obedience

but she's just very even tempered. and predictable

(plus i have a water gun for when them not listening to me to get back inside the house and i running low on patience)

@ the water gun. I had that and a can of pennies for Mon Ami. (He was my last dog. That's also when I realized it is not a good idea to give your dog a nickname that rhymes with &quot;NO&quot;. His was &quot;MOE&quot;.)

I get what you're saying about your cat though. She doesn't ever mind you lol.

I should send her to visit my parents for a month lol. (I sent my dog before last, Krystal, home for a whole summer when we were truly sick of each other. You know it's hard times when your dog stops greeting you at the door when you come home from work.)

There is the big reason why they are referred to as &quot;bit-ches&quot;.

Too the bossman and anyone who may be offended by the B word It needs to be used in this post to answer Tulip's question. It seems most people prefer to have female dogs over males. Males are easier to have around in general though it depends mainly on what you are looking for in a dog. They are more easy going a lot of the time and I can say without a doubt my males are much sweeter than my girls. The males usually will greet strangers more readily, while females are often more guarded, and protective. Both sexes will &quot;mark&quot;. I have a female MinPin who will stand on her front legs and aim as high as she can to mark!

Other than that, the only thing I can add is to take her to the grassy area and don't slow down your step until you have Butterfly completely on an area where you want her to relieve herself.. If you are going too slow or if she has too long of a lead enough for her to go where you don't want her to go then shorten her lead till you get there.

It sounds as though she may be &quot;marking&quot; her territory.

Nanook. I had not considered that maybe she was marking territory. She only acts that way during those special periods. She is also a pickier eater then.

It took me a long time to see it, but male dogs do seem to be more easygoing. I'm not sure which I think is more protective, but I kind of try to avoid those types for now. I've had a larger dog who was more territorial than I would have liked, and was weak on the discipline when he was a puppy so you can guess how well that went.

LOL @ the B word. I think it's safe to say that the girls earned that name fair and square.

in general even male cats are more easygoing. and loving.

Max is the family cat - loves man woman and children
Amy - loves me, likes the mr, tolerates the children
