Fall Gardens

Anybody planting a fall garden? Fall is the start of the Florida gardening season. I just finished planting all my starter plants today. (pics soon come)

About two weeks ago I planted:
Lettuce (romaine and red leaf)
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Sweet Peppers
Tomatoes (beefsteak, cherry, patio)
Calalloo


Today I planted:

Zucchini (yellow and green)
Collard Greens
Broccoli
A variety of tomato I can't recall right now
Habanero, my scotch bonnets start out good, but I always end up losing the battle to white flies.


I wish I could find some string beans and cucumber. Haven't seen them yet, but I am keeping my eyes open.

The scotch bonnets were a hit in my garden this year and I reaped a bumper crop from two deggeh deggeh plants
They were also the only crop plants that the bugs left alone! The bugs love the callaloo,man
Tomatoes were good this year too and only attracted bugs at the end of the season.

Late summer I planted potatoes following Ms. Exced's advice and I've already reaped a nice little crop of new potatoes. Out in the vegetable beds now are thyme, chives, and parsley. Oh - planted some mustard greens from seed in late summer and I ate them before the bugs got to them. I wasn't that lucky with the bokchoy

I wish I could find some string beans and cucumber. Haven't seen them yet, but I am keeping my eyes open.

Potatoes - I got organic ones, let them sit for about a week, then cut them in quarters and planted them. I think they will grow just about anywhere.

I forgot about the scoties...glad that worked out for you. I have just the opposite down here. Callalloo flourishes with leaves twice the size of my hands, but lawd di bugs and the pepper plants. I am trying to stay on top of it this year with neem oil. it works.

Thanks for the reminder. I have never used them before, but I read others on here saying they were satisfied with Burpee. I really want cukes and string beans.
