It's a perennial in warmer areas but considered as an annual in areas that go through cooler...colder winter climates. I keep one in a pot that I never bring in...so it sits out every winter and the plant will come back every spring and start blooming around late summer. Very lovely patio, Gungo!

I think this is a calandrinia. I bought it at Home Depot and I seem to recall it is an annual. But search on the Internet says it is perennial. It is in the succulents family and it is drought resistant, loves hot sun and is not poisonous to humans and beasts.

Yes, Sandi, I do love my patio. As you know I remodeled two years ago fixing up my little corner of the earth. So my next planting project over the next few years is to have vines growing over the pergolas on the patio. The problem is that the posts are surrounded by cemented flagstone. So I would have to contend with container plants.

This year I tried Morning Glories in a pot and this morning I was met with this. I planted this from seed from a little packet I picked up for 49 cents! This is an annual according to the packet but I will plant it again next year although I heard it likes a lot of water. This year I've been lucky with all the Spring and Summer rains.

I bought a Knock Out Rose bush this Spring and planted it in a large container. It was beautiful

and then aphids or some no-see-ums invaded!

I have morning glories allllll over, so that now when I see them, I pull out the excess plants...and still pulling The flowers are beautiful. It reseed itself every year and proliferate all over the yard in every little nook and cranny is morning glory. I highly doubt you'll need to buy new seed packs next year. Kinda strange seeing morning glory growing in a pot though, Gungo.
