A Jamaican criminal who fathered four children by four different women in the UK has lost his legal battle against deportation from Britain.

Joseph Grant, who spent 34 years in the UK,<span style="font-weight: bold"> argued that the decision to deport him breached his right to respect for a private and family life. </span>

<span style="font-style: italic">Grant</span>, who's 48, <span style="font-style: italic">was deported after a string of convictions for drug offences, violence, theft and robbery</span>.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that his deportation was &quot;proportionate.. and therefore necessary in a democratic society&quot; given his long pattern of offending.

<span style="font-weight: bold">The Court said that although Grant had strong ties with the UK &quot;it cannot overlook the fact that the applicant has never cohabited with any of his children&quot;.</span> [

Evan, does a Green Card holder in the US have a right of appeal against deportation, or is it automatic?

The UK government want to start doing the same to non British nationals, who have &quot;Indefinate Leave to Remain&quot; the UK equivalent of a Green Card. But they are hindered from doing so by the European Convention on Human Rights. There was even talk of having a &quot;cooling off&quot; period for naturalised citizens.

u have the right to an appeal but changes r, since dem stawted a deportation order, dem gwine to fulfill it , no care wat u try

dem can even rescind ur US citizenship and deport u

i highly doubt that. i don't think most law-abiding jamaican nationals are being deported willy nilly and i don't feel sorry for criminals.
