Ok here is the story
There is a little girl in my daughters grade that got some home work on Monday and she did not do it.
Her parents look in her agenda and there was nothing about homework written in it.(This is a child who always does her domework as soon as she get home from school

On Tuesday when the little girl went to school and the teacher asked for the homework she told the teacher that she did but which th e teacher found out was a lie.

The teacher wrote and note in the agenda to the parents about it. The parents had a talk with the child and was punished for it. This is the first time this had ever happened.

So Friday coming all the grade 3's and 4's are going to an arena to skate (the parents have to pay for it). The little girls teacher called the parents today and left a message that their daughter can go to the arena with the others but she wont be allowed to skate.

So I saw the mom a little while ago and she was very upset about it and she asked me what I think.

So I told her if it was me I would not let my daughter go to the arena...what would be the point...I told her that would be putting food in front of a hungry child and tell them they cannot eat it.

what do u think should happen.

on the other hand, she will see the magnitude of what she did , in that, she will not be able to join her friends on the rink

even if u punish a chile by denying dem a treat of food while the rest of u eating, u no starve dem ...u just feed dem dinner an deny the dessert...

dem seh a picture is worth a thousand words...so she might learn from dis more dan a prolonged lecture

If she is not a child who normally does this I don't think she should be punished further and if it were my child mi woulden mek she go ah de rink if she cyaan skate.

Her mom says this is the first time anything like this has happened. She says the daughter is always deligent about doing her homework as soon as she comes home from school.

I say the samething Jazz if she cant skate she should not go to the rink.

I see what you are saying
but there will be about 150 students going to the rink and only that one child wont get to skate.

Agree. The punishment is excessive considering this is the first time it's happening.

so how she suppose to learn to skate IF she doesnt go to the arena?
secondly, if the teacher denying her to skate as punishment, i would just leave her home.
but then, you need to back up the teacher or you will be telling her that the teacher has no right to punish her and she may lose respect for the said teacher...unless the teacher wrong...

so ahm, u shud pay fi send har pon punishment? she nuh sound like a bad pickney. mek sure she understand di error of har ways and kip har at home and save di money u wuda pay fi di trip.

1st offense and not doing HW and lying to cover up her tracks.. I think she has already been punished and would have a chat with the teacher about rethinking on having the child not skate. If the teacher refuses to let her skate still, then I would not allow her to go to the arena.

Difficult decision...but...if the point is not made clearly and firmly, children gradually learn how to manipulate the parents and the system to suit themselves.

For me, she'd go but she couldn't skate.
