Same sex schools

What advantages do mixed sex schools have over same sex ones in your opinion, in the teen years?

Let me add to this. Well all this talk about female oppression got me thinking on something I now and again think about for my children.

Having gone to a same sex school, I would say that contributed to a sort of strength as a woman. It is similar to black child being raised void of excessive racism. It was clearly visible in mixed schools that the men did play a role in the achievements of the females. Things like women are weaker at mathematics and all.

As a result I never felt shy to approach what is considered male only. Then again, I must say that I find the Caribbean the most tolerant place for women. With women in men's sports teams or where ever, as long as they are good enough.

Here in Europe women are really conditioned under men, pretty bad, so bad that they are even afraid to touch a computer. This pressure is in the society at large but in the school it is critical where the females must achieve.

So hence the question, why should female and males be in the same school or class.

i am partial to same sex schools because I attended one as well so there was less distraction as to which boy likes whom in the classroom. I think it makes a more confident woman academically and the studies have shown that.


the downside is both sexes do not learn to be comfortable with each other until later than children who attend mixed sex school.

what Kia said..with the exception of the sexes being comfortable with each other...i went to a same sex school and never had any issues interacting with the opposite sex...

i am an advocate of same sex schools. (as well as the uniform ting-2 more years till we reach )

the topic came up in a conversation wid a co worker.

she tell mi seh mi can lock away mi daughter but mi can't watch har all the time

she automatically <span style="font-weight: bold">assumed</span> that my preference for same sex schools was to keep watch over my daughter's virginity \0/

to answer yuh sukuna, i think it gives girls added confidence without the distraction of the boys. society already expects boys to be better at mathematics, sciences etc

Well I had a the opportunity in my high school years to do both same sex and co-ed and same sex gets my vote.

I found that at the same sex school we girls were very competitive about education as opposed to boys.

Well in my case there was enough interaction to observe in primary school. Imagine children sleeping with each other as early as 7, excluding me of course.
So i think kindergarden is enough
