that while she is at college she would like to find a husband and that was one of the reasons she chose the college she did.

Her mother is a very independent woman, has worked through her entire career was appalled and perceived her daughter taking a step backwards in womanhood -- as in going to college to find a husband.

the daughter aspires to be a medical doctor and has chosen a college where it would be feasible to get into the right medical schools from there.

How would you respond if your daughter made the same comment

but whats wrong with finding someone that has the same goals and or interests as you do? Finding a life partner shouldn't be the SOLE purpose of going to college but if you want a man who has a degree were is the best place to find him?

I agree she might likely find her future husband there but for that to be at the forefront of her mind nah guh sit well wid any parent.

mi really feel cheated out of mi college experience enuh, cause the wuk did suh hard most days mi deh class wid mi clothes lopsided mi membah mi end up a bawl after one midterm

after college - you go to work (not PC to date your coworkers)

but I agree with Seveen...better to find your spouse in college rather than when you out there in the workforce and realize that everyone have a different agenda...you at one phase in your life when all di man dem yu meet is at another...plus Bobby from college who yu use to date married off since him finish him masters...and yu tan deh til yu clock start tick loud and yu buck up on Leroy who is available but have 4 different pickney by 4 different madda but who all of a sudden decide him need a change inna him life an work mickey d in di daytime an macy's at night while juggling courses at the nearest community college just trying to get that associates...

when you could have done sooo much better...

i have also seen where women go to college and get the best education and get a GREAT job in the workforce

they marry an equally educated man

then the babies come and they decide to stay home (not putting down stay at home moms)

and in 10-years time - when they can go back to the workforce

they may as well not have spent all that money on an education - job skills rusty

That is what I told the mother. After college then in med school or where she works (which is harder) and by that time people tend to have more baggage. IMHO I think the daughter is really saying she is keeping herself open to relationships while in college but finding a man there is not her sole purpose.

job skills not rusty.. just applied differently

fiwi likkle pta deh pon de technology changes in the classroom hawd, de psychologists one dem wuk p/t the business degree people a do fundraisers, a write books, book entertainment acts etc..

so the skills learned in college and the work force are still there but used in different projects.


as mi did tell mrKia one time.. Dis ya housejab is project management but instead of being a 40M project it is a lot smaller in scope.

trust mi i feel like i getting rusty...and i have only been home since july of last year

anyways I am using this time to make myself more marketable...hence I will be going back to school in the fall

den medical school
den internship &amp; residency in dem specialty

by the time dem done dem eena dem 30s and de man dem tek
