Should she go?

So my daughter received an invite to go to a pool party from a girl in class that she does not really play with at school.

She does not want to go but I know the girl has a lot of health issues which may limit her ability to play.

Should I have her go and reach out and learn to be nice to others even if they are not part of your group of friends since they extended the invite?

Or should I decline the invite (via email addy provided).

Yes she should go, good lesson in empathy. Ask her how she would feel if she didn't have any friends (girlKia mi mean)

so now we have 2 birthday and 1 pool party all set for next week

well i wouldn't MAKE her go....but i'd explain how nice it was that they invited her...how sad it would be for this girl if no one came....and explain how good it feels to give and do good for others....and that you would be proud of her for being kind.

then HOPE she comes to the right decision.

I don't think I gave my kids an choice, or even a hint that there was a choice involved in a party invitation at that age. I would have been like, &quot;Wow! Tomorrow is (Julie's) pool party! I can't wait!&quot; Or, &quot;Tomorrow is Julie's pool party. Let's go choose her a present. Hmmm a beach ball or a swim suit? What do you think she'd like?&quot;

ummm the unwritten rule is not to turn down party invitations (at this age anyway) unless she bedridden.

thats what i usually tell mine. also that when the other child made up the invite list they must have thought carefully about it and had a reason why they invited her.

we spoke about it tonight and i mentioned how it would be fun being a pool party in all

and she said, 'i have invites to so many pool parties, i am pooled out mom' \o/ but then got to the real reason

is a next little girl in her class who will be there that she cannot stand.

the girl is a real attention seeker and likes to hug a lot (she even hugged me when I did library duty for the class )

but she will go to the party

That's what I was thinking ((Gen)) The other little girl may 'want' to be girlKia's friend, and this is a good opportunity.
