girls and horses - a winning combination. well done to girlKia, and to u too. mommies are very often handmaids to their dawta's horsy dreams. we are almost part of the barn staff at the riding school, lol.

i have heard that if girls are into keeping care of their horses they tend to focus on their academics and be less 'boy crazy' in their teen years.. horse caring is a heck of lot cheaper than, 'hi mom I'm pregnant'

i used to love to see the soccer playing girls...dem just look athletic and strong and sure of themselves.

As little as four hours of exercise a week may reduce a teenage girl's risk of breast cancer by up to 60%; breast cancer is a disease that afflicts one out of every eight American women. (Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1994)

40% of women over the age of 50 suffers from osteoporosis (brittle bones). In an economic environment where the quality of our children's lives will be dependent on two-income families, our daughters cannot be less prepared for the highly competitive workplace than our sons. It is no accident that 80% of the female executives at Fortune 500 companies identified themselves as former &quot;tomboys&quot; - having played sports.

but i would add any extracurricular activity (ie: drama, chess club, student council, sga, etc. )

true..but if i had a girl i would encourage sports as well, for the physical and emotional benefits

yes I was just going to add that is ANY extracurricular activity including sports. It keeps them focused, structured, disciplined and looking forward to goals.
