Study Time

Do you have your kids do homework for x amount of hrs a day.. for grade 6 and up kids?

i.e. when them finish dem homework (in 10 minutes) do you have them review what dem learn in school via the books for the other 50 mins?

from my daughter start going to M.S i haven't seen her done homework in 10 mins. mostly 1-2 hrs per day (including Fridays), after she finish her homework i review them if i see incorrect answer i will give it back to her to review.

I am not there yet, but I could see where I would be leaning towards that.

btw what is up with this HW weh can be done in 10 mins

mi might add in some extra stuff in there

15-20 mins of work
10 minutes break in between
another 15-20 mins of work

Studying is EVERYDAY.

After HW is done, get something to eat and go right back to studying. You get to relax on the weekends....you'll thank me for it later.

I think homework is highly overrated most of the time ... the pickney already spend 6/7 hours in school they shouldnt be getting homework (this does not include reading assignments) that take them more than 30 min to complete. and another hour/2) for review/reading with breaks.

I agree that doing 100 problems that all the same not gwine help.

I like the review idea though...but wonder how effective it is, when them just finish 2 hours of homework.

that's why them shouldnt get 2 hour of homework ... if them get 2 hr home work that is the review.

just do what is best for the individual child.

I doan mind 30 mins of hw but dem still should have 'study hall' to review whe dem learn

back in my day grade 7/first form study hall was 4-5 and then 7-9 Mon - Thu Friday was 4-5, and Sunday 4-5

so mi a think bout a modified version of that schedule 2 hrs which is reviewing/doing academic tings
