Nanny rents out baby to beggars for 100 rupees a day
A nanny in Bangalore, India was found to be drugging the baby and passing it on to beggars for the day, all in the name of money.
Anamika Joshi works at a large multinational corporation in Bangalore. Like so many working mothers in the nuclear age, she had handed off her baby to a nanny in the morning before heading to work.
But the nanny Joshi used had other plans. She would sedate the child with a drug, place him in old, ragged clothing, and pass the child off to a gang of beggars to use as a sympathy ploy for passing motorists. Afterwards, the nanny would relax, watch television, and eat from the refrigerator.
After returning home one evening, Joshi noticed that her baby boy was somewhat lethargic, but wrote it off as a day of not feeling well. However, Joshi soon learned the truth when she came home early one day to find the nanny relaxing with no baby in the house.
Joshi confronted the nanny to determine the whereabouts of her son, and the nanny confessed her money-making scheme.
“What my baby was put through sends shivers down my spine,” said Joshi to reporters in Bangalore.
“I can’t imagine what would have happened if I had not returned home early that day.”
