i read malcolm gladwell's two other books - blink and tipping point - and now listening dis on mi commute
says a lot about why some people succeed and others don't. like being genius is a waste if u poor and lack di right environment. sounds like a nobrainer till u read it tho.
and how age and cut off dates just disregard a whole lot of potentially good kids (even in education) and di effects stay thru dem life. e.g. most successful hockey players pon canadian teams bawn between jan and april. di cut off date mean dat anybody after dat might as well no train. di selection process just skew it dis way.
the magic 10,000 hours of practice weh will basically mek u expert.
how poor people nuh challenge di system suh dem pickney grow up bowing to authority rather than have the practical intelligence evidence where one guy weh get caught trying fi poison him teacher while anedda one mother figet fi sign a financial form. who u tink get fi stay inna school? di one weh try poison him teacher!
how outliers succeed just fi di mere fact dat dem not in mainstream, dem have dat 10,000 hrs of expertise and di right opportunities and di practical intelligence fi mek use of it.
mi still a read listen. his story telling makes his writing very compelling.
