I am totally crying right now...

Currently my Employer pays 50% of my medical insurance. The other 50% comes out of my payroll.

They do not pay maternity leave so I have to go on state disability... disability only pays 60% of my current salary.

I just contacted the HR Department to see how I continue my medical while I am out on disability??


Hear this:

After the first month an employee is out on disability they can make arrangements to pay the company the full cost of medical premium each month in advance.

$913.83 for Imanni and I

i remember one time i talking to this man on air jamaica that own a business in Jamaica, and him was cussing bout jcan maternity leave law that mek him haffi pay the woman dem when dem gone out on maternity leave.

and him a ask me my opinion... and at that time me have one year old baby

So mi coverage end one month after me go on disability... mi maternity leave start 1 month before...

So what mi ago have baby an no coverage???

Den I should drop the coverage and go on state before the baby born?

Caw mi cyaan get state coverage after she born \o/

I think u need to just read thru the material, and perhaps even call someone at the state program to make sure u fully understand the ins and outs.

Yuh sure private insurance not cheaper ... My job while you are on Mat leave you dont get the benefits unless you pay for them ... they pay for your first and last month u off and the 2 months them topping up u pay and then you have to either pay lump sum fi the rest of time or you can have it deducted monthly and it isnt even half of the amount you quote (and believe me you have full coverage) bandit

Mi call these people and dem say they can cover the children once I lose my current coverage. takes 7-10 days to process...

Then the lady give me a different number to get coverage for my pregnancy..

I just call the number an dem tell me they can't enroll anyone after they reach 30 weeks of pregnancy...

but from what I understand you have to BE PREGNANT to get enrolled...
