just curious as to how many ppl let their kids believe in Santa Claus or not? (this question is for those that celebrate Christmas but choose to kill the Santa idea)

I was having a conversation with Mr Man and he asked me if I would allow any potential kids we have believe in Santa. After I thought about it, even though I love Christmas I dont think I would. Too much effort to cover up the lie. Plus when I hear how some of my friends were devastated when som older kid busted their bubble on the subject, I figured I dont want to deal with that.

This is a tough one..I don't go teling my kids about SC but <span style="text-decoration: line-through">they</span> <span style="font-weight: bold">*Sarah*</span> already knows who he is...I don't go about disputing his mythical existence I just say uh huh...or eeh hee... kind of on the fence about mashing up kiddy fantasies...

but u can already see when the 2 of them are older and Sarah figures out Santa isnt real, how she gonna just blurt it out poor younger Abi and make she bawl down the place

I dont mind promoting the symbolic meaning of him and encouraging the idea he represents, but how do you explain if he is real why their is a Santa in every mall u visit? The whole &quot;santa's helpers&quot; lie can only go so far.

Pre-school planted the Santa Claus story. I just didn't tell them that it isn't true.


I don't remember being devastated when *I* found out the truth, and i doubt that these kids will be either.

It seems to be a gradual process, every year they believe just a little less. This year they asked if Daddy was really Santa. I think by next year we'll be Santa free.

I was the same way too Ceabee....I have no memory of some exact moment when I found it he wasnt real. Here's to hoping any kids I have turn out the same way and not like some of my crybaby friends that chat about the moment 30 years after the fact

me? no. It was usually an older sibling that does them in.

like I said, I have no memory of believing or not believing. So zero devastation on my end. And I never thought to say two words to my little brother either.

i believed in santa claus for a <span style="font-style: italic">long</span> time probably into my teens - at my house christmas was a magic time and the toys seemed to magically fly under the tree sometime in the middle of the night

i remember one night waking up about 5AM - my brother and i sneaking downstairs - and there wasn't a thing under the tree - talk about scurrying my butt back to bed FAST - and i swore i could hear reindeer in the background

after i knew there was no santa - you got school clothes and underwear for christmas

i told abu that the spirit of santa relies on us

I dont believe that I ever believed in Santa. I knew that gifts were given and received and always knew who they came from. I had an aunty that was very big on teaching (for every stiking ting ) so literally every holiday she would go through the &quot;Ideas&quot; behind each holiday and how their paegan counterpart fit in the mix.

So we got the Easter: Christ rises from the dead/Easter Bunny represents the rebirth/calling forth of Spring.
Xmas Christ was born to save &amp; end up giving his life (the gift) for people he doesnt really know/Santa brings presents (a gift) for people he doesnt know.

Me'd continue, but mi stawting fi have flashbacks of wanting to bust open mi gift Xmas morning and getting licks cah mi wasnt paying attention to mi aunty evalasting lesson dem
