your daughter has a learning disability.

She has hated/resented you since the age of 9 (when you married and had another child)

As a teen she became very rebellious and promiscuous. (enabled by her grandmother)

She is now 28, has a 6 yo child, lives with the childs father and they are on Govt. Assistance.

You have warned her repeatedly about the odour of marijuana on your grandchild's things when he comes to visit.

she has also been visited and warned by child services who were contacted by the school.

the child is now a ward of the court and living in a group home.


Relatives are now asking why "you" as the grandmother didn't step in and "prevent that from happening........

well from what I hear she only found out about child services being at the house from another family member that the daughter called.

Other than that I don't know.

But would you take in the child of your 28 year old daughter?

to me that would be a better alternative than her living in a group home.

yes I would....and bar all contact with the parents until they clean up....as mandated by the court of course...

cant speak for where you guys live, but i see this A LOT in my line of work. when the courts step in and place a child in a group home environment..it is because they can't locate a relative with a condusive home. once they locate such a place they move the child there if the family member agrees and work with the courts to re-establish the parents (ie. drug, parenting classes, etc.)

so grandma could just tell the courts i want custody of child and then she would &quot;have the child&quot; until the mom gets her act together...that is if that happens.

I don't think Grandma wants custody and all the drama it will bring. Both her and he husband work full time so there would have to be before and after school care and blah blah blah.

And I don't think she is confident that she could get her daughter to abide by the court rules re: visitation and contact etc.
