Since Adale was 2 he has been asking for a violin ... bought him a little guitar and he still wants the violin 3 years ago. About 6 months ago he asked me if he could get piano lessons. Checked a few places near enough that I could access by bus and they all said age 7 for individual lessons minimum. Tonight he tells me he can play me music on his piano (he has one of those little toy things). Surprisingly he read the letters for the notes in the book and matched them to the keys and played twinkle twinkle little star and he played do ray me by just by listening to the sounds of the keys. I need to find a program for him soon.

Wow! He sounds like a natural talent, a genius!

I'm surprised they won't take him before 7. Obviously, if he shows the keeness and talent for it now, I would be willing to give it a go if I was in that line of work.

Mozart wrote his first composition at 5! (I think).

There are others that will take him but they arent near my end of the city.

in my neck of the woods..most instrument stores offer music lessons.
so people come in and do lessons for the instruments that the store sells.
perhaps that is an idea.
the earlier you get him started the better.
my niece began playing when she was 3 (not sure what a 3 year old can do but that is besides the point)
my sister had the teacher come to the house and then when my niece got older they went to the teachers place.
the teacher also arranged for lessons to occur at my sister's church, so that when my sister is there doing other stuff (during the week) my niece can get her lesson.
my niece is now going through the stage of "the piano is boring...i don't wanna play anymore."
so to spice things up, my sister and her teacher enters her into competitions and festivals.
i cant believe how well my niece plays sometimes.

what? age 7 for individual lessons? what kinda fawt is that? my folks started me on piano lessons at age 4. Look at the music stores for bulletin boards, or try ask music teachers at a school.... there are individual teachers who will come to your home to give private lessons.
