Sterilizers

So I'm from the era where all formula cans and every thing you could ever read said baby bottles and other feeding accessories should be boiled/sterilized before each feed. I've been trying to find sterilizing tablets (for use with cold water) or a steam sterilizer within a reasonable price range but the only thing I can find is the stupid microwave steamers. So I took to reading online and they don't think sterilizing is necessary after the initial one

So my question is the new idea really safe? any idea where I should be looking to get sterilizing tablets on this continent?

i didn't sterlize anything i just put them in the dishwasher

found a little box to put the nipples in so they wouldn't float around in the dishwasher

my child did not suffer from ear infections (drank from his sippy cup at 6 months old) or colds - even attending day care starting at 3 months

a little "dirt" helps to build up the immunities

i can count on one hand how many times he's been sick and he's almost 14 now

yes thats all i did,run the dishwasher at nite. had a little case where the nipples and tops went. bottles on the dishwasher rack

Just had a good amount of bottles, so i wouldnt run out during the day.

Did you use the temp boost or just regular dishwasher temp? I wont necessarily be using bottles everyday because I will be breast feeding ...

the beanseses were breast/bottle. In the early months *maybe* a bottle a day.

I think i probably used hi temp and heat dry. (puling this from memory as i dont have the same dishwasher in front a me now)

Mommy was old school, she would just boil nipples (and bottles too i think) on the stove.

what i have is disposable. i pump and then the bag gets attached to the bottle (which is just a tubular thingy). His nipples are the only thing that gets washed. Just so mommie will stop looking pon mi (and yes i am being paranoid) i dip the nipples in hot water then lay them in a dish rack to drip dry.

i boiled and sterilized wid #1....bf mostly and dishwasher for occasional supplement bottle wid #2

so dishwasher ppl...u wash the bottles etc wid the regular dishes? sorry if dis sound like a dum question mi just a tink bout how sometimes little pieces get left on stuff so mi a wonder bout the nipples and how stuff could be left on them etc....

This thread reminds me of this old joke

1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.

2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's bottle.

3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.

well at the point the stuff pon di bokkle nuh sterilize too?

me nuh memba u hear vegas

but i suspect that it did wash with the other things...after me wasnt running dishwasher fi two bokkle

Good question.. I separated her stuff -- but hand washed it (mi noh use mi dishwasher dat much anyway) and dash hat wata pan dem. Dat was my method of sterlizing - good ole hat wata
