Don't try to make your lefty hold the paper/book the &quot;right&quot; way. it may look upside down to you but we know what wi doing.

Don't try to make her hold the pencil the same way you do.

if you start somthing, juss know that she going to turn it around and do it her way, and it going to seem backway to you. like for examply if yu teaching her how to use scissors an yu start to cut out somthing.

Stirring cake batter, if you show her, an you doing it clock wise she going to do it counter clockwise.

Know that more than likely she going to have trouble telling left from right.

Don't freak out when you si how shi hold di knife to peel orange or cane she is not going to slit her wrist or cut off her finger

i'm a leftie too (tanyer we the only ones in we 'right minds'!)

and i agree it's nothing, no thing at all. u no have to teach us any way to do anything, just demonstrate with the hand you use and we will adapt the directions to the hand we use. its just not an issue. so what if we hold book, pencil, iron, tennis racquet a slightly different way - is that &quot;wrong&quot;? well no - is just different. why the old-school ppl say kids must be bruk outta it? why they can't leave them be who they are, an no give dem a complex?

the worst possible thing to do is force them to change hands. that will create bad penmanship and poor coordination for their entire lives. not to mention aggravation that them are not accepted for who they are, as them was naturally Created. Conversely, if they are left alone to write how they choose, then there won't be any issue with their writing, nor their self-esteem. I have beautiful clear writing and never had any problem tellin mi right from mi lef needa.

to be honest i have never understood that way of thinking..... i just don't get what's wrong with using whichever hand them just use naturally, or why it matters--? i mean really, it's just so trivial --(?)

My mother told me that I was going to be a leftie and she was so scare of it that whenever time I took up something in my left hand she put it in my right. I wish she had leave it be, because there are times when my left hand will reach for things first even now. But just allow the child to do what is comfortable as long as it is not harmful.

3 of my kids are left handed. i never had to teach them to use scissors or write they just took to it naturally.

my daughter wanted me to teach her to knit and crochet so i showed her me doing it in front of the mirror. not that she ever made anything. just one long chain.
