she told you was was not listening to the teacher so who to tell that might be the reason she was sent to the naughty corner
go talk to the teacher and tell her about Sarah eating problem and find out what happened today

teacher seh she told sarah that if she did not eat up she would put her in the naughty corner
and her friends laffed at her
so i explained to her that my child is a picky eater
and if she had a full breakfast she will barely touch lunch
and as long as she had something to drink she will be ok til i pick her up
it is only half day
so all is understood
and i am calm now

i had just the opposite happen to abu

the teacher withheld food

i met her in the parking lot

that was the last day in her class

I can believe you were MAD!! I would be too!! Please do NOT feel shame!! She should be the one feeling that!!

As a single mum of a now 18 year old, I did do all the (freebie) parenting courses that were on offer in my time when he was a wee one

And one of the things I remember them saying was that there were 3 things YOU CAN NOT INFLUENCE IN A CHILD

sleeping, eating and as they call it in America, bathroom activities

in other words, exactly what you say, children eat when they are hungry and will not starve!!

Go tell that to her, in a diplomatic way LOL, did they do basic child pediatrics, psychology, etc in her studies??

Anyway, be sure to let your daughter be assured it is not her fault or in any way she was <span style="font-style: italic">naughty</span>!!


By the by, here children do not go to school until 4 years old, and maybe go to a creche or playgroup before that, but there are no &quot;teachers&quot; there, only carers, my friend who lives in Norway who has 3 told me children there don't go to school until 7 years of age because they believe children should only be playing before that age, not sure if I agree to leave it so late, but about only playing mostly, so true! Stimulate their learning and creativity,

enough time for following rules and regulations for the rest of your life, eh?!!

she won't starve or faint weh mrs a and she knows her limits with me so it is not a matter of telling me what to do...i remember being force fed as a small child...it is not a nice feeling and i will not do the same to my child...if she is hungry she eats like a horse....if she is not then she won't...she is growing along her own curve and is a normal healthy active child...i will continue to encourage her to eat but i simply won't tolerate her being punished because she has no appetite

Skells I would agree with you.. She is 3, still a toddler and toddlers are self regulating when it comes to food.

I hear you but it's not about the eating...it's about following a pattern in school...learning that there are rules and that there has to be order and obedience...even if she just munches on something...just obey.

Can you imagine a class of fifteen children with each child on a different schedule at lunch time and then...wanting to eat later... in the middle of story time?

Training begins early ...because by the time the child becomes five years old..it's over...

Anyway, note how many times you have to tell the modern child to do something before it's done...if it's done...

When they do not follow simple rules/requests/instructions/whatever...
this leads to them becoming &quot;wise in their own eyes&quot;
and as I already said further up,
they start running the household...subtly.

<span style="font-style: italic">Disobedience/lack of obedience...however you choose to phrase it... is one of the more serious issues we have in the child-rearing process nowadays...and it gives rise to all types of ills in our societies...regardless of where we live.</span>

With all due respeck being threatened with naughty corner for not eating defeats the whole purpose of naughty corner. Even as adults do we always eat when the bell rings at 12 or whatever time is &quot;lunchtime&quot;. And children are not robots which eat and move on schedules set by humans. I guess my child would be in trouble everyday but wait his teacher uses snack time to teach them about healthy foods so if there is a day when he doesnt feel like eating she no have time fi pick on him... in fact she has a time out chair for real offenses and they dont work to go there.
