High school.. Boys in basktball shirts, sneakers and T shirts

Middle school .. 2 young girls, one wearing mini skirt pon ar 5'8" frame and sandals, the other wearing short shorts, sandals and a t shirt

Elementary school: one jeans skirt wid sleeveless top pon one girl.. pr a shorts and a t shirt pon de bredda

bwoy mi memba how we used to trash out. skirt starch and pleat sharp like knife

wi bubbles, clip and ribbon, vaseline fi keep white squall awfa u mouth cawna and ashiness awfa u foot and elbow dem. shoes polish di night before and shine a mawning and ef u cyaan find di shoes brush u use one old shirt or coconut brush.

ILP – aint that the trooth. I pass a school on the way to work and what dem people deh call “uniform” is laughable. They wear red shirts and kahaki bottom..but the trick is dem can wear anyting fram regula store.

So sometimes yuh si di girl dem ina mini khaki skirt an tight up red blouse. Yuh cyan tell dem sey dem noh ina dem uniform

Wendy2’s school is uniformed from Kindergarten all the way through high school and is real uniform dem wear. Seeing those kids in the mornings reminds me so much of home. The uniform is the same navy blue color as back home

My niece wears real uniform to school as well Wendy ...everyday my sis says thank God ...cause the pickney really fussy... even the skort is knee lenght.

You know what …Kids will be kids.. We had strict dress code back in school back home and no matter what we tried to do to have wi own way, the dress code was ENFORCED.

Since parents cyan walk behine the children, the schools should enforce the rules.

Example, we were allowed to wear only sleepers and knobs in our ears..If we dared wear anything else ...it had to come out pronto! Principal gave out stern warning to both parent and child.

Mi won't even go into how much time wi used to get cuss off when wi call cah Bonequa wants to wear short shorts and her mother say, &quot;What's wrong with them? I bought her that?&quot; or wi called cah wi tyad fi see William's underwear, sakah im baggy pants. When wi call daddy, daddy reports that im on im way up to school...when daddy arrives..fi im pants heng lower than William's are and <span style="font-weight: bold">daddy have on a belt </span>

di amount of hat mi give weh at end of year sick mi stomach. cah as mi tek dem weh...Quan'R-ick come in next day wid a next one.

Our Principals have become very, very, very savvy. We tell them 1st day, so them cyan say wi never tell them We even draw them a pictra. We say nothing else. We just freeze the kids out. The AC is set to 65 (or lower) at ALL times. Long pants, socks, sweater and jackets wear at all times weh mi is

ETA: no need to call mommie fi bring dem a change of clothes. no need to send home warnings about what and what wi will do if so and so come back to school dress a way. juss tun up di air pan dem.

I use to do the above bolded until my granmere came to school unexpectedly. They (teachers) used to complain about my short skirt (I wore uniform) and she said Stormmey does not leave home like that, when she comes home she properly attired. I told her the teacher were lying on me So, she told them next time I turn up at school looking like that they should call her and do not let me know.

So....am in the caf with my crew and who mi spy but mi granmere....lawd I wont even tell unno what she did to mi infront of mi fren dem I still embarassed so many years later. Still a conversation piece when we have a reunion.

That's the difference between school now an school back then. When I was in school them neva badda call Mommy or Daddy if yu bruk uniform code...the principal juss call out or point out who fi stay back after Assembly (Andrews) and dress yu dung right dehsoh.
