It happens to 'better' parents.

I was reading an article where a pastor left his 14 month old daughter locked in the car for about 3 hours while the temp hovered at over a 100 degrees.

The baby died. The pastor was delivering a sermon while the child baked.

The quote above 'it happens to better parents' - jumped out at me. Do you think this is so?

I can see that.. Something similar happened although not as dangerous as what happened to the baby.
MrKia usually does not transport the kids to school.

He had boykia in the backseat to tek him to school dat day.. Boykia was quiet. Then boykia spoke and said 'Dad you passed my school'. MrKia was on autopilot and because boykia was quiet missed the turn to school. This was when boykia was 7.

imagine that scene if the child in the backseat was a baby

When I get out of the car, I lock and then check the doors. Doing this involves me glancing through the windows to ensure that I haven't left anything of 'value' visible - on the front seats or the back. Doing this just takes a matter of seconds.

As for the pastor - maybe him whenna go ova him sermon eena im mind and what not, but when yuh go eena de church an si alla de parents in de wid fi dem pickney, dat nah go ding a bell dat yuh a figet supm????

Think about the absent minded people so focused on something else they forget. I could see this happening more with men than with women as women appear to be natural multitaskers.

Do you know I went to a house party an Wendy2 fell a sleep in the back and I made it in the house and forgot about her?

1. I usually don't take her to these house parties where there are just adults and no kids around. This time I had to.
2. She is always singing and yapping in the back and having a conversation with me. Because she fell asleep there was silence and I completely forgot she was with me

When I got inside the house, a friend of mine who rode along with me ask me where is the baby? Though this was only for a few minutes I was scared up di bazookas running to the car. Trus mi.. I have never believed these were intentional. These things can happen.

We don't know what is going in the parents mind at the time or what the circumstance is. I was literally shaking when I picked her up out the car. I was in a state of panic that this could have been worst. The whole evening I was paralyzed with the thought of what could have happened if I didn't miss her that day.
