Guns & Knives in 17yr old room. Parent did'nt know? Come On!

This is a local story where I live. A 17 year old shot a 12 year old. The 12 year old is on life support. Now the real story is how come the 17th year old's parents did not know he had the cache of weapons in his room. Below is a picture of what the police found in the room. Do you believe the parents?

FORT LAUDERDALE — A 17-year-old boy who detectives say owned an extensive collection of illegal weapons was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted manslaughter of a younger playmate who is on life support with a severed spine.

The Broward Sheriff's Office displayed a table full of guns, swords, knives and brass knuckles Thursday that they said were confiscated from the bedroom of Jose Torres, 17, of Deerfield Beach.

I wont say my child cant have illegal things but not a stash like that in my home without me knowing ... unless he brought it in last night and the police search this morning. And he must have just started to hang out with the source of these weapons for the parents not to have a clue.

yes I can believe that
the parent probably makes the kid clean his own room, put his own clothes away, etc so I can see where he would be able to hide stuff.

At 17 years old I can understand that the parents could not have known about the weapons; unless they suspect him of something illegal they would not have any reason to go in his room -- he is nearly an adult. If his room needs cleaning I would clean it by closing the door.

Yes I believe, my little bro is a teenager and my Mom does not go into his room, mebbe twice a year if so often.

The next time I visit I going into his room wid a fine tooth comb, he and I are tight like that he tells me stuff he would not tell Mom or his Dad.

Seriously though that bway in the story need all him trigger finga amputated betcha some shrink going to have some theory for all this me sey chap aff the likkle

Betcha he was one of those kids that used to torment/torture animals.

As a child growing up in Jamaica mi never have nothing a hide inna mi room

why would I ? After mi nuh want pick up mi teeth from di grung

I knew who the adults were in my house and mi nuh dare even entertain having something in deh dat I wasn't supposed to have

a 17 year old may have a part time job. dont know if there were other signs (isolating himself etc) that his parents just shrugged off as teenage moodiness

There was just too many of us to consider let alone act on &quot;stashing&quot; things. Plus I was very aware that mi neva own nutten (up to and including what mi was wearing at any given time).
