As of 8:40am yesterday morning, MsKimmy is officially mine bearing my name and having ALL of my love. She is MINE, MINE, MINE! I am the happiest woman in the world right now. And although she is only 2 1/2 years old, and has no clue what the Judge was saying to us, she's acting as though somehow, she understands what all the fuss is about.

Firstly, I dressed her in a beautiful lavendar and white Easter dress that her buddy passed down to her. She wore white tights and shoes. I took her braids down and combed her hair in bows. From we walked in the courthouse and all day, she got compliments and smiles and she strutted like a peacock. She loved the attention. Posing for cameras and camera phones. She jumped in the Judge's arms and on the Attorneys lap for pictures. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

It took all of 5 minutes for me to affirm that I was who I am and what not. He decreed that I was a fit person and capable of training, educating, providing for and the supervision of Kimmy. Then he thanked me for adopting one of their children and I thanked him for allowing me to. We then went and got 2 birth certificates. The SS office had 30-40 people in line so I will do that another day. We were going to take pictures after we had lunch, but I got an opportunity to get a tune up for much less than the $220 my mechanics were charging so we ended the day there. I wanted to take her somewhere special but we will do that on my next off day which is next Thursday. We'll have a Mommy/Daughter day and go to a movie and or the zoo. Have a breakfast and dinner date. All that. Then we will take pictures as well. Yesterday would have been ideal but I had to get the car on point before we dropped down on 285. Thank you all for being there/here for us the entire time it has taken us to get to this point. I am so thankful to God for bringing her into my life and vice versa. I cannot describe the feeling of knowing that at NO point and time will she ever be taken from me. No more threats of phantom relatives coming out of the woodwork. No more DFCS and Agencies. No more headache. Hallelujah!! Just me and my sidekick strutting along.

Now I have the details,the guest list and the menu for our Adoption Celebration. I just need the place. Banquet Halls are so expensive. I am leaning towards my former Church or..gosh the term escapes me! It's the area you rent at the park and have Family reunions. There's a new park near St. Mountain that was recommended. So that is my next headache to deal with. We're skipping our vacation in VA to make sure we have a good party.

Anyhow, thanks again for your prayers and love you've shown throughout this wonderful saga. Kimmy and I are on our way to a wonderful life that started almost 2 years ago. Yesterday I was singing, "We are family! I got little Kimmy with me. We are Family. Little Kimmy belongs to me!" Amusing myself.

Thanks Hot Puss, keesha and nanook. It is wonderful to be her legal Mom now and the very best Mother's Day gift ever. If I never get another gift...

I have been so excited these last few days. Kimmy has changed. I think she notices the difference in me. She practices saying her new name. Then sometimes when I call her she'll say, "I'm not Kimmy! I'm Baby!" [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/baby.gif[/img] 2 days I have came home from work with gifts for her from co-workers. If she gets another purse..

Anyhow, we are still relishing in our new life. I went back and re-read the entire thread and was amazed at some of the things that were said. I did not remember the Lady that told me in the ER waiting room a few days after I got Kimmy, that she was NOT going back home, she was mine and I need to start saying it. She also told her 2 children to pray for us that Kimmy gets to stay with me. I had never seen this Lady and have not seen her since, but her profound words were a prophecy that came true. I wish I had gotten her number. She really encouraged me that day.

Now I need to schedule a leave of absence from work so that I can relax and release the stress of 2 years of drama. I need to be away from work and everybody to have some ME time. As soon as it gets a little warmer, Kimmy and I will be at Hilton Head, SC relaxing on the beach. It will be her first of many trips there. I don't know how it will go seeing Diva does not walk on sand or dirt. She'll enjoy the water though I am sure.

The pictures I wanted to put on here did not come out like I wanted them to. Only the snow pictures. We took a fresh set last week so I hope they come out better. It was our finalization day and she was looking as she say, "cute". So we will try to get them on as soon as we use the film up. Be patient with us. The unthinkable has happened. Kimmy and I reached our 2 year Anniversary yesterday but I had to work. I was off today so we celebrated by going shopping, going out to lunch and had planned to spend the rest of the day having "we" time. I got home after 3 and was talking to my sister on my celly, when my house phone rang. I heard a young girl asking was I (first and last name). I hesitated but said yes because this is how some of my union members call me for the first time. I did not register that this was my home number and not the cell I use for them. She then went on to say her name and that she was Kimmy's Mom. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] What the heck???!!!

Long story short, this girl calls me claiming she went to court to have her baby son's aunt made her Legal Guardian (mind you she is 17 now) and heaven knows how we came into that story. Her attorney, who used to be the legal clerk for our adoption Judge, gave her my name and told her she could call information for my number because she did not have it or my address. Double [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

I was mad and dumbfounded at the same time. This child claims she was not aware of her rights being terminated until last week when she went to court. First lie! She was not aware of the adoption. Second lie! She tried to get into programs so that she could get her child back. Third lie! Everybody gave her wrong information. Fourth lie! She got different dates for court from 2 people. Fifth lie! I need not go on.

So, outside of someone about to lose their job for giving you my confidential information that is within a sealed adoption, pray tell, what are you calling me for after 2 years?? She wants to know if she can see Kimmy, send her something or talk to her? I had entertained that when her rights were terminated and told her advocate so, but all bets are off. This child was told where we attended Church (former Church now). How do I know if she does not have my address or the Daycare's address? She was so distraught and crying buckets and all. What about the last 2 years? Why did you not show thyself to DFCS or the courts and be able to see her when it was offered? I was cordial with her. Never accusing or talking down or bad about her.

I called our Attorney and she was mad as well. She feels she thinks she does not have DFCS behind her anymore so she can play on my sympathy to see Kimmy. She wants her to see her 6 month old brother. We had a conversation for over an hour off and on. Her phone kept hanging up and then she called from a celly. Someone had called from a private number for a week and I ignored them. I have a private/unlisted number that I pay 2 fees to keep that way and she tells me that 411 gave her my number. I now believe that it was her.

All I know is that someone is in jeopardy of losing their job and license/credentials because adoption records were opened and revealed. I let her know that I am Kimmy's Mommy and nothing or nobody is going to come up and change that or cause disruption in our lives. I let her know I will be calling the courts tomorrow morning.
